Dear All, Greetings from Auburn. After being a silent reader of the Kurakani section of GBNC for more than two months, I am encouraged to write something and share views with you. Thanks Ashu for your encouraging remarks on importance of writing to learn more. I read from KO that the Computer Science paper from the SLC Exam was cancelled. The reason is not other than the question in the test being word-to-word copy of 'the model' in a guess paper. What does this signal for? I am interested to learn from your experiences and views on higher education system in Nepal. Gandhi Raj Bhattarai Auburn University

I think SLC Examination board is more more to blame for this. If I were a student who didn't care much for education so long as I passed the SLC examination and the path of least resistance to not only pass but pass with flying colors happens to be copying from one of these model papers, I will do that. And if I am a good student and I see that some moron is gonna get better marks by such means, hell I might as well do it. I know more than he does, I don't want to score less! If the model paper was available in the market, shouldn't the board be aware of its existence? How can the same questions be repeated in the final exam? Who leaked the questions to the market? Integrity of the teacher who prepared the "model paper"? At the same time, most of the schools that "teach" Computer Science doesn't even have a computer! How is that possible? And these students find destroying public property, and in their school uniform too, more entertaining and interesting than monotonous study. That's just the way it is!!!

Hi Gandhi, Welcome to this board, and,, time-permitting do post your thoughts and ideas and news. At times, the board can get a bit unruly. But don't let that upset you in any way. After all, when a group of strongly-opinionated Nepalis and friends of Nepal from all over gather to discuss stuff, some heat, light and thunder are to be expected and even tolerated. oohi ashu
