Maoists kill 40 police in Nepal

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/2243838.stm
The police have suffered heavy losses

Maoist rebels have killed at least 40 policemen in an attack on a remote post in Nepal.
The attack took place early on Sunday in a village in Sindhuli district, 160km (100 miles) south-east of the capital, Kathmandu.

""We have reports of 40 policemen dead and 15 wounded," said Junior Interior Minister Devendra Raj Kandel.

This was the first significant attack since a nine-month state of emergency was lifted 10 days ago.

However, there have been a number of explosions in Kathmandu.

Night raid

The rebels launched their attack in the middle of the night, a common tactic in such assaults.

The first indication of the attack came when police officials said they had lost contact with the outpost at Bhimad, after what they described as a major assault.

They said hundreds of rebels had taken part in the attack and had blocked approaches to the town, delaying the arrival of police reinforcements.

There were reportedly 70 police in the station at the time.

The survivors apparently fled into dense jungle surrounding the village.

More than 4,000 people have been killed in the six-year insurgency, which seeks to replace the monarchy with a Communist state.

The government has said that elections will be held in November.

It is too sad to hear this tragedy and loss of innocent lives of Policemen on the eve of Fathers' day and TEEj , don't know how many womens became widow and son and daughter orphans.
How come the Police post was stationed in a remote area with only 74 Policemen with the almost 40 Yrs Old VINTAGE RIFLE, what a strategy our Home ministers and Police HQ have, where was the reinforcement? what appened to Those so called Night Vision Choppers, Helicopter Gunship? where was the army, communication? Its a total failure of strategic planning?

After all Khum bdr or Devendra Mantri did not have to die, they flew in Helicopters to see the site, poor Nepalis sons died. Hey , Deuba , what happened to the 5000 Assault rifles that govt bought it from Belgium, Where r the American made M-16 Rifles, As long as these Forces are not equipped with these modern arms and a war fare training, there will be more loss of lives, and they will be target again and again, every Nepali knows..

Now who believes that there will be National election and peace in 2 months?....
Why don't these Rebels take care of these corrupt Mantris , first instead of Policemen?
May you all brave martyrs soul remain in PEACE. Peace in Nepal.

Thats a very bad thing Maoists have done. Well, killing is bad...no matter who kills -- Maoists or Policemen. I hate VIOLENCE! Using violence is a terrible thing to do. Whoever is reading my reply, tighten your fist. Now open it -- do you find anything? No. The same thing is for violence -- nothing is found. Violence cannot be an alternative for anything. It is a weapon for idiotic people. Everybody wants peace.

Nepalis r dying violent death. This has to be stoped if we want to prove ourselves as human.

Other countries are and will try to exploit this situation to their benifit. But we must stand firm on one ground. "We cannot go on killing our own brothers and sisters".

There will be disagreement among people living as neighbours (brothers & sisters) but using violence to subdue the other is never going to achieve its objective. Why don't the people engaged in this senseless violence realize this?

What I smell?

In emergency period:
Very minor incidents, but, not to this scale.

Everytime Emergency is about to expire or just expires:

Maoist start violence.
Intelligence does not work. Khume keep on funneling IntelliMoney to his pocket.
Employs his henchmen to Guptachar and then purifies them as govt. employee
(full). .....
.....
A week or two weeks later, emergency reimposed.

So, all these events occure:

1. Those on top, or in intellengensia know whats going on.
2. they want to ask peoples to make their mind that its time to impose
emergency. See, Maoists are killing peoples. How can we remain
withou emergency ... Emergency is justified. ....
3. Maoists stop or their violence is minized.
5. Life recycles, at the cost of our age. Generation.

What is that 4? Do you know, what 4? Neither I know. What 4 is missing. Did you note.

It is the most outrage thing done by Maoists so far whcih made to wonder how they got all those modern weapons? who provies them money and where do they get it? What they want?
They want blood of innocent policemen who comes to the city and enroll in police in hope to get paid and meet their families's ends.

"Bhagban Sharan Gachhami, Dhaman Sharana Gachhami, Sangam Saranam Gachhami"

This pray is popular in Buddhist community in Nepal. I used to listen this pray, while I was a young child. I could not figure it out what the meaning of this quote. At that time, Nepal was being considered a peaceful country in the World. Late King Birendra was being able to have International Support of being a "Peace Zone Nepal". I was so happy at that time because I could go to school everyday. There was not such disturbances and fear among the people. Teachers could teach us. They were kind to us. All the students around my neighborhood were happy with the situation even we had to sit down in the floor in the classroom. It could be just because of Grace of Lord Buddha.

I used to entertain a song around the age of early 20s written by Ayeshorya " Yeklo Gibanma Mayale Chhoyo Priti Beujhai Manma", so nice song by Tara Devi. I missed the days while I had in Nepal. If Nepal has a hope for peace, there is still possible to feel this type of sentiment regarding Nepal and its people. Now, things have changed a lot with out getting noticed. Way of living and the thoughts of life have been changed unknowingly.

A young girl, pretty girl named "Laxmi Karki" from Pokhara was on the NTV (Nepal Television), the program was hosted by Bijay Kumar around in 1996 June/July, the girl cried, while Bijay had asked her about her father. Her father had left them alone with the poverty along. Her mother cried because of having difficulty to support her four children (four daughters) at the age of 28. She had support from her husband around 12 hundred rupees in a year. Her husband died in any reason. They have no house to live. They have no food to eat. They have no job for earning. I thought that Laxmi was the poorest girl in the world. She was heading to the darkest side of life. Why Laxmi does not have a piece of bread???

Life goes on and Laxmi (may) or may not have education because of overwhelming poverty of the family. Who does take care of all the "Laxmi-es" in Nepal? Does this current govt. (constitutional monarchy) take care of "Laximi-es" for a healthy society and life of all Nepalese? OR, Does Maoist take care of "Laximi-es" for a healthy society and life of all Nepalese?

"Bhagban Sharan Gachhami, Dhaman Sharana Gachhami, Sangam Saranam Gachhami"

Right now Nepal is in news everywhere and people here rush to me and talk about it. I feel so bad! What to do?
Satya Posted on 09-Sep-02 09:56 AM

HahooGuruji,

I have the same questions you have raised. Our netas say they are fighting Maoist but they provide funds as protection money for Maoist movment and they visit the Maoist murderers secrectly. If those Maoist murderers are accessible by Girija, Deuba's chamchas, Makune and other netas why the Maoists could not be arrested by Indian police? It seems that they don't want to arrest those Maoists murderers because they are friends of our netas.
