What follows is from Samrat Upadhyay, a prize-winning short-story writer from Nepal, presently based in Ohio. I will inform my friends in the LA/Santa Monica area to go to this, of course. Meantime, dear fellow-GBNC Web site vistors, please take a note of this, and pass this on to your friends in the LA area too. Let there be many, many Nepalis and friends of Nepal in the audience. oohi ashu ********************************** I thought I'd write to you about an upcoming reading of mine in LA. If you have friends in the L.A. area who might be interested, please feel free to pass on the message. One of my stories, "The Cooking Poet," has been selected by Selected Shorts, a program that features classic and contemporary short stories that are read to a live audience in various American cities and then later broadcast on National Public Radio. The story will be read by, and this is where it get very postmodern, Spock, Leonard Nemoy of the Star Trek fame. The reading is on June 24th, 7 pm, in the Getty Museum, 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles 90049. Tickets can be purchased by calling the museum at 310-440-7300. If you have more questions, feel free to ask. Thanks. Samrat
