okay, didn't mean to start another thread on this, but what do you think is the best travel agent to contact to get a decent airfare to kathmandu from US ? Has anyone travelled to ktm from US recently? How much was the roundtrip cost ? Please share your experiences. How much does the price hike if I plan to travel around december 14, (for the winter break) ? I appreciate your response. Thanks.

... The following are travel agencies run by Nepali people. Before purchasing my ticket a month ago, I called all these agencies to get a fair bargain. My experince: Peaceland quoted me the most reasonable prices and in addition to that their SERVICE is something to commend on. But, don't take my word for it. Call all of them and found out for yourself. Peaceland Travels: 1.888.461.4722 Third Eye Travel: 1.800.456.3393 Mt. Everest Travel: 1.303.573.5481 Sunrise Travels: 1.800.944.8438 Himalayan Travels: 1.800.223.1813

Just call them, or visit their sites, google is your 'yaar' on this. For example: http://www.himalayantrekking.com/ gives you $1410 on Singapore airlines to KTM. You can choose between Singapore and Thai and your cities. My experience? There is a old saying: "Dog bites the stranger but businessman bites the old clients", and I beleive on that and always shop around. Even explore other agencies, 10% savings will buy you a month stay in KTM. Good luck.

From the east coast it costs around $1250 to Nepal on cathy and about $1450 on thai. On Cathay you don't get the miles. On Thai you do. You should also check out Korean air if you don't mind longer flight times and doing the trip in peices. You would have to find a ticket from bangkok to Nepal seperately. The Korean fare from LAX to BKK was aroung 650 last I checked. Also check out consolidators fares. They are ususally listed in the sunday newspapers' travel section. But be careful if you are buying from them and ask about restrictions, miles, and taxes etc.

Travelocity.com. Last time I browsed it, the round trip to kathmandu from Los Angeles was $990 for aeroflot and $1010 for korean air.

Indeed, aeroflot has some really nice deals except for the fact that i couldn't find good rates around december 14. $ 822 for a round trip to ktm from jfk sounds pretty good at normal time of the year.

.. Paid $1,294.50 (TAX of $85 INCLUDED) for a flight originating from the South via LA to KTM. Cathay was the major airlines chosen......I assume flights originating from LA would be offered a BETTER Rate

Mr. Recent, Your name is recent but your info is very old. Transavia have suspended the flight to Nepal long time ago.

Mr hercules!!! Have you checked their site yet? First go to that site and then you will see whether there is flight or not.. I guess you are not keeping up with recent updates... Transavia doesn't fly between late April and early Sept or late October to Nepal. So my information is not old.... try to be up to date---Again you might be confused about the fact that they suspend flight only in those months that I have mentioned... Thank you.

FREE advertisement -must be just as nice to the travel business. Thanks to the site. Now I need some statistics. Which airline(s) has a crash-free record? :) I'm serious.
