hello everyone
My f-1 visa was issued from ktm in july 2001 and it expired on july 2002. I am enrolled in a 4 year college here in good standing . I am planning to go to nepal in this winter break. My I-20, needless to say, authorises to me to be here for 5 full years. Do you think i will have any problems getting my visa renewed if i give my passport and I-20 at US embassy in ktm for renewal when i am home this december? has anyone done this recently? What are the chances of being turned down the renewal in ktm ? how can i get my visa renewed anyways( if i choose not to go to nepal this december?)

if you have an outstanding academic history than you are good to go,
but if you have transfered to too many colleges in the past and that you have low grades then it's a risk.

I have done this before. she checked my transcripts and also checked if I had skipped any semester. it's not bad as long as you have good record and have been going to school regularly.

... If you HAVEN'T been able to maintain your FULL-TIME student status, it is recommendable that you furnish a letter FROM your school advisor stating the reason. This letter is in ADDITION to your I-20 and Transcript, required to be submitted to the Counselor at the time of your F-1 visa renewal.
