Since I am interested in anthropology, can someone tell me what a typical Nepali brahmin of pahadi origin looks like? Does this guy( see below for pic of an old man) represent an average Nepali Brahmin? I ask this because he doesn't look very Indian. In fact, he looks Kashmiri/Afghan/Iranian. Very longheaded. His skin color appears to be very different from an Indian. According to a Nepali anthropologist, many Nepali brahmins are Magar converts. Is that true? What is the frequency of mongoloid traits(epicanthic folds, flat nose, etc) among bahuns? Some theories I have come across: 1. Bahuns have been living in Nepal since time immemorial. 2. When their ancestors, the Aryans, came to the Indian subcontinent from Central Asia, they made their way to Nepal in about 1800 BC or so. 3. They fled India during the Islamic invasion, thus most look like Northern Indians. 4. Original Indian brahmins who came from India during Muslim invasion mixed with magars. Thus, today's bahuns also have mongoloid admixture. 5. They came from Central Asia through Tibet. Which of the theories above do you think is accurate, and why? Also, any good books regarding their physical appearance, their culture, their habits, etc? Don't bother replying if you plan to flame me. I am genuinely interested. Discuss

Above picture looks like man from Afghanistan or Rajesthan India (West north of India). Long nose and skinned face is very similar with Rajesthani people. If he keeps long mustache, he will match with Afghanistani. Currently, He might lives as farmer in village. Genetically, He is not from Nepal. But he might lives inside Western Nepal. “Definitely 100% he is not from Europe or East Asia (oriental countries). But he must be from South Asia. "

I disagree. There are tons of people who look like that in Nepal. I know my dad has similar features like that man. Rajastanis are usually dark-skinned even if they have long face. And Kashmir isn't very far from Nepal. I can find hundreds of pics of Nepali people who look like that. One of my uncles has blue eyes. It's pretty common actually.

If your Uncle has blue eye, that is very serious social problem. Genetically, Blue eyed human gene from Europe........ something wrong in your family. I don't wanna too deep about this but even in common sense it is something wrong.

No, it's not wrong. Light eyes exist in very low frequency among Nepali bauns. You should look at your own family closely, if you don't believe me. You'll no doubt find some that have blue eyes, green eyes, etc. It's just that when we're in Nepal we don't notice these things because we've been living with them. I also have some NEPALI friends with colored eyes. Tell me then, what's a typical Nepali baje ko face if that guy above doesn't look Nepali?
