I recently completed my undergraduate degree and will be joining the masters program soon, I wish to apply for my visa at the border. Do you think a letter from the School stating my completion of the undergraduate degree + my Masters I-20 should suffice?? or do they wish to see any additional documents!! Suggestions will be appreciated Thanks

why do you need to apply for a new visa at the border? are you planning on leaving the US? if you are not, you should not go to canada or mexico to apply for your new student visa. as long as your i-20 is valid you should be okay to stay here in the US. if you are planning on traveling and will need visa to re-enter the US, i think in addition to the letter from the school, you should bring your letter of acceptance for the masters program and also financial documents (bank balance, any grant or scholarships you might have recieved). and before you go be sure to check with your foreign student office and the consulate in canada and mexico, regulations sometimes change over night. also, i hope you know that, if you are denied a visa in canada you will NOT be allowed to re-enter US, they will make you go back to your home country to re-apply for your visa. hope these informations are helpful... good luck >I recently completed my undergraduate degree >and will be joining the masters program soon, > I wish to apply for my visa at the border. >Do you think a letter from the School >stating my completion of the undergraduate >degree + my Masters I-20 should suffice?? or >do they wish to see any additional documents! >! > >Suggestions will be appreciated >Thanks

more info on f-1 visa... before you go to apply for your new f-1 visa be sure to have your foreign student office register you on ISEAS (Interim Student and Exchange Authenticaton System) and get a registration number. this is a new web based procedure introduced by the state department on 9/11/2002 to track down foreign students better. without this registration number you will not be issued any visa at any of the US consulates. again, times are tough, good luck and be sure to bring ALL necessary documents.
