Here is what I understand from the mess in our country.
The primary objects of the Maoists is to take over the government. The secondary ones are to expose the corruption, inequalities etc. in our country.
The Maoists/terrorists are already half way through in achieving the first; the second objects are already achieved. People like chore Chiranjibi Waagle came under scrutiny because the King and the present government had to find some corrupt guys and punish them to win the people's support; although Mr. Waagle is corrupt he is just a scape goat considering that a lot more notorious thugs are out there. The government is doing all this drama NOW because the terrorists are pointing their barrels at the government and the government has no other choice; it could be a last moment ditch attempt on the side of the government. It's certainly sad innocent people are dying in this mess. More Waagles need to be punished before the King can say he has a clean government.
Do you guys believe that for over 5 decades the army could not afford enough automatic rifles?
There is corruption every where in Nepal including Police and army. The amount of corruption in our country is best observed by people born and brought up in KTM. People original to KTM cannot afford a small new house but people from remote areas come to KTM for becoming helpers, for studying, etc. In the begining they go through miserable conditions. Once they reach the government posts, they swallow portions of budget and build a grand building right in the heart of KTM. Of course not all people grow this way but there are plenty out there who do.
I do not support Maoists nor any kind of dictatorship, but you want it or not they are a big force now. I won't be surprised if the King goes on the run in a few months or so. The fact is you cannot throw a stone while living in a house of glass! If you want to, then you need to build a house of brick. There is a big danger that the glass house has started to collapse from within long before the Maoists can take over!
In this turmoil who is the beneficiary? The maoists, primarily!
