Natty, thanx for reviving some *SPECIAL MEMORIES* of 1974 ad. I am sure they did rock till the last drop..!! The experience i had with them, made me realize that they are not jus a mere nepali rock band!! they are humanists, and i am sure their Message was well heard........I feel really really fortunate to have that Invigorating experience with them for a couple of days, which I will cherish for a long long time here in us:) oys

IMHO, gradually becoming the most over-rated band in the history of Nepali pop music.

Yes dem Do needs to know what dem music is. He know nothin about music . I think he needs to look at the history of Nepali modern music. Maybe he should know something about creativity in music. I think he thinks good voice is music.

can anyone tell me if there is any similarities betn the 1974's song"parelima" and Extreme's "more than words". It seems to me like the music has been copied. Could anyone comment on that.....

Well,, I have heard from some other people also saying that Parelima sounds like more than words... To me "no"--may be the guitar sounds a little but if you listen both the songs clearly --they don't sound similar at all... Even if they have copied a little guitar part-I don't think thats bad--- Go To SLC exam center--then you will see lots of copying--that is bad....

NO matter what, 1974 is really good...i know , they have been inspired by u2 and other bands..but they got thier own talents....they got thier own tune...own styles.... we all should be happy about it!!!

Hi everybody, This is my first "posting" to sajha. I was tempted by the topic of the discussion. 1974 is definitely a good band, specially having so many professionals in it. Every fan of Rock music in Nepal tried to get 4 guys interested in music and formed a band. If not that then just learn few licks of the famous 70's songs. Even today around thamel, you might find a band playing "Sultan of Swing" or "Coccaine" and the list goes on. What I am trying to say, is Nepal is a big fan of 70's ROCK. 1974 AD, gives a clear hint that they were ROCK fans, ofcourse with the name of the Band! Duh..? and that's what they are outputting, besides they are more music literate than average Rock guitar player in Nepal. About "parelima," I don't think it is similar to "More than words." Parelima has the strumming, which is a famous style ofplaying guitar, which is used mostly in classical and spanish guitar laying techniques and lots of other ballads and it is also used by Extreme in "More than Words" and Crash Test Dummies in "Hmmmmmmmmm", therefore they produce similar sounds, although a lot different to one another. And about inspiration, we can only NOT be inspired by bad music, it is always good to get inspired by better music, which only echos the good quality sound. thanks for reading it. I like the crowd here. SaCri

1974AD are pop musicians. Your distinction that rock and pop somehow fall in different genres is flawed. Yes, 1974 is a rock band. Pop music is not genre but what's happening in the popular music scene, the music that majority of the population has been listening to.
