Dear Biswo,

I cannot help but noticing that you bring up Holywood movies every time you hear (ok, not every time) something significant happens in Nepal (or maybe even in this world, which i don't know). I am just wondering: Do you consider yourself greatly influenced by Holywood extravaganza? Are you a fan of movies in general whether it is independent cinema made in Belgium or france or peru or is it that holywood has wrapped you in its little (ok, its giant) fingers? Please take this question as friendly inquiry over a glass of wine. This is not a criticism on your thinking or personality. Here I would like to add that I admire your wide and in-depth knowledge about so many issues.

About Babuchiring: You know what i was thinking? I have a different take on it. What was it that compelled him to climb mt. everest over and over again? Why couldn't he leave this mt. alone for god's sake. What is this about "setting the world record?" Is it that fablous to be in the guiness book of world record? what motivated him to do this foolish (*I* think it is foolish) thing: climbing 8 or 10 times?? What were the odds he would succeed again? Didn't he think of his 6 daughters and his wife?? I hope Nepali govt. will take good care of them at least. Or the people who were just so happy for him to be such a a daredevil.

note: sorry about sp. and gram. mistakes if there are any.

Dear Namita:

It is not 'everytime' I draw such analogy. Last time I draw only
to get flaked later. This time, I just wanted to continue that.
Movies are my pastime(I know nothing about TV!)only. I take them
as an important genre, and my principle is if we can talk about
books, we can also talk about movies. So, I hope it answers your
question. Also, Shawshank Redemption was one of the best movies
about life in gaol. The actor there breaks the jail with the same
trick(with small dagger), and disposes rubbles in outside farm
with the same trick that the ladies in Gorkha employed. So, just
remembered the movie.

Babuchiri is not culpable in trying to conquer Mt Everest. It is
exactly not his job to let her alone, it is that of Nepal govt.
For a poor Sherpa, the climbing of peak was both profession and
proficiency. He did nothing wrong. As for thinking about wife
and daughter, that is not important when you are trying to set
a world record, to go to an uncharted territory. Just for analogy,
had Yuri Gagarin thought about his wife and children, he couldn't
have gone to the space, and we wouldn't probably know a lot of
thing about solar system, later made possible by establishment
of telescopes and other equipments in space.

Hope his soul rests in peace now.

I assume you are not married!

Just a friendly observation.
