Dear RDS, We have purchased the most critical and expensive components of the system (mixer, amps and speakers) already but still need to purchase a few other components like mics, mic stands, cables, DAT recorder and tape/cd player. This should be done before the next big GBNC event, Dashain Party: Oct 12, 2002. The main idea behind purchasing this equipment is to save GBNC money by not having to rent out such equipment in the future. As you probably know, rental fees for such equipment are outrageous. I have paid for this equipment out of my pocket and therefore would like to hold on to the equipment (when not in use) until it is paid for. (Also because I have the room for the equipment and access to a truck to haul it around.) Your request is an interesting one, but I am not sure how practical it is. You need a truck to move the components from place to place. It is a 2800W system with huge speakers. So, it is really suited for performances and concerts for big crowds only. I think my initial response to you would be, yes you can RENT it out from GBNC for events and performances. The rental fee will be much lower than you would have to pay at other places. Just to give you an idea, the same system cost $1,100 to rent for the 1974AD/Deep Shrestha concert from a local store. If you have any more questions on this subject, please feel free to contact me at 617-265-1044 or write to me at president@gbnc.org. Also, you mentioned that you are an aspiring musician. Could we, by any chance, solicit your services for GBNC events? : Rgds, Bik. GBNC.
