I have been looking for an affordable and convenient air ticket to go home this December. Let me share my findings here, and maybe others can add any helpful info too.

1. Singapore Airlines has 86'ed their SIN-KTM route, which really sucks. I was hoping to fly SIA all the way from Chicago to Kathmandu.

2. Supposedly KLM/Transavia have the shortest route (it takes only 24 hours to get from Detroit to Kathmandu), but I have not found any agent who is able to sell Transavia tickets, probably because it is a seasonal airline. If anybody know of Transavia authorized travel agency, please post a respones.

3. There are few flights available from Europe to Kathmandu via Doha with Qatar Airways, but I am not too keen on middle-east route because George Bush might decide to go ahead and wage war with Iraq any day now, which might cause the airlines to stop flying in that sector. Any thoughts on this?

4. Thai Airways is a good option, from LA via Bangkok, but they seem to be pricey and are hard to get.

5. Cathay Pacific is another good option, but they fly only up to Hongkong or Bangkok, from there you have to take RNAC to reach Kathmandu. With their fickle service and poor customer support reputation, I don't know if I want to fly Royal Nepal. Any thoughts on this as well?

If you are in a same boat as me, or if you have any experience on the above subject matter, please do share in this thread.

If you are a travel agent reading this, click on my name and please email me a quote as soon as possible because I really need to immediately purchase couple of tickets to go home.

Thanks.

Oh, one more thing.

Has anybody flown with Eva Air? If you have, what is your opinion on it?

Thanks.

yo sangey,

i just purchased 2 tickets to ktm via fra-doha-ktm (quatar airways) for this december. it was 1055 +tax.

before purchsing the ticket, i hadn't really thought about the bush-iraq thing that you mentioned and even now i don't think that will cause a problem. Maybe because I am so much looking forward to getting home this winter.

By the way i got my ticket from nepalisite.com.

Let me know what you have to say on my take.

Thats true--
I also went to nepalisite.com for the tickets to Nepal.
It was good.
Guys try there--they have a form where you can fill out and the agent gets back to you.
They have the phone number also..
As far as the transavia--you can purchase through their website transavia.nl

I have done that before and travelled.

But check nepalisite.com .
