Prithivi Narayan Shah was facinated to see Nepal Valley in about 1760's -- so fertile, so mountaneous, so many beautiful temples. He was a guest of King Ranjit Malla's son to visit the valley. The first thought that came to Prithivi Narayan Shah's mind was to build an empire with Nepal valley as the capital. Therefore he began his campeign. He attacked Kathmandu directly at first. However, due to his horrible defeat, he started to conquer the neighboring kingdoms and then finally on Indra Jatra 1769, he conqured Kathmandu. This was a historical day -- a day when our morden Nepal was formed. Lets remember this day!
