The Roaring Nineties As the chairman of Bill Clinton's Council of Economic Advisers, and subsequently as the chief economist of the World Bank during the East Asian financial crisis, Joseph Sitglitz was deeply involved in many of the economic-policy debates of the past ten years. What did this experience tell him? That much of what we think we know about the prosperity of the 1990s is wrong. Here is a revised history of the decade, by the winner of the 2001 Nobel Prize in Economics by Joseph Stiglitz Stiglitz was a name kicked around at this site on the debate on World Bank/IMF. |

Thanks for sharing the article. Paramendra dai. I heard Stiglitz has published another book recently. Is it true? To everyone: I am doing a research on the World Bank Policies in South Asia and their implications on the socio-economic condition of the rural population. I got hold of this book called "Masters of Illusion: The World Bank and the Poverty of Nations". Do you have any idea on where I can find more information on this matter. Environmental impact of the World Bank Projects is too long an issue to cover in a 20-page paper. So, I am exploring all other aspects and touching only a bit of the environmental issue. Links to articles related to what I have mentioned above will be helpful. Thanks, MP |

At Sajhapur, I always startle when someone refers to me as "dai." For someone without a mask in a town full of people with masks on, I don't know if that person might be someone I know offline or someone making a polite reference to my age - way past college - .... But anyway, Voltaire, please share once you get your findings. Maybe perhaps even the entire article. |

None it to get so scared Paramendra "dai". My plain explanation for calling you "dai": I know you and that you are way senior to me. Not trying to build up new connections or anything. Nepal maa aafno kaam garaaunalaai piun dekhi liyera haakim samma jammailaai "sir" bhannu parchha kyaare but I dont think the same formulae works here. And I was not trying to see if it worked. Will definitely share my article if it turns out to be readable for a person with your calibre or for everyone else at Sajha for that matter. At the moment, all I have is the topic itself and I am afraid I might not reach anywhere until the night before the day the paper is due. By the way, when was Sajha renamed to Sajhapur? |
