Sorry to hear about Brajesh....I had visited his nursery in Bhaisepati a few years back and he did have great plans. I do hope he and his family are alright. What's his e-mail?

I'm not all that articulate but I do enjoy Kurieshi's works. "London is Killing Me" is another one that I liked. Not sure if this was his or not since it's been a while.

I have been visiting this site since July and find it pretty interesting place to while away my time......have learnt a lot through various postings from different people. The dialogue that Jules spews out before taking care of business in "Pulp Fiction" that you had so kindly posted is one of the favorites. I, too, am a movie buff.

Hi Dirk,

Brajesh is out of the hospital now, and is doing well. Please send me an email, and I'll give you his address.

On another note, ever since an Indian-American friend introduced me to hanif Kureishi's works, I have long been impressed with Kureishi's novels and short-stories, and have
read all the novels and strories that he's written.

Have you had a chance to watch the movie "My Son The Fanatic" -- a brilliant movie, set in a gritty London neighborhood, with Om Puri playing -- very ironically -- the liberal father to an increasingly conservative (in a religious way) son. That movie is based on
a Kureishi story.

I understand that Quentin Tarantino -- the video-store clerk turned into a big-time director -- is presently visiting China, where he reportedly casts a big influence on younger film directors. Here's a Hong Kong-ish movie I would recommend to you,
a fellow Tarantino fan: "Chung King Express" by Wong Kar Wai.

Meantime, check out:

Yes, I enjoyed Chung King Express too. Sweet and innocent. Another HK movie I recently rented from Block Buster and liked was "Time and Tide." It's of different genre, but for entertainment purpose, pretty good. It is quite stylish, kinda John Woo -ish. Bata-bing bata-boong. Check it out.

Good to hear Brajesh has recuperated. Ashu, how is his business?

Talking about classmates, who is Dirk?

Sangey,

Will check out that movie sometime soon.

I have become quite a fan of Hong Kong-ish/Chinese movies . . . I'll try to see the one you have recommended; please recommend others too.

Brajesh's business is doing really well. Like I said, his is a winning business model with winning products. I visit him from time to time . . . just late last year, he helped
me -- in terms of technical advice and strategy -- set up a flower-nursery near my house. Named after my mother, the nursery is doing quite well, and has brought me countless hours of joy and fun on week-ends. We hope to make good this Dassain
and Tihar -- selling, for a start, high-quality saya-patri and makha-mali flowers to all. :-)

Talking about classmates, ran into Mohan at a bar last night . He too is doing well.

So, Dirk, who are you?
