WARNING: Readers under drinking age is advised to stay away from this posting.
ACHTUNG! Unter 20 bleiben Sie bitte weg!

My self-imposed exile is over. On a second thought, I think exile sounds a bit harsh. Sort of Napolean in that island, alone and being poisoned slowly and ultimately - death. No, it was more like sabbatical. Free of actually doing doing but reading and enjoying from a distance. The call to come and entertain became too hard to resist (ahem). After all I am a mere mortal not a god. Then again if you talk about those Greek gods, the preceding sentence is void and null. I actually dreamt of my brother who is a spiritual counsel, literary critique and a partner in crime (have you seen my mauling of sentence structure? You ain’t seen nuttin yet!) was telling me, “NK, my dear, you should go and post!” Sort of like Moses appearing and telling what is expected from “his people.” Ten Commandments is a good guidance, I tell you. Well, from what I remember.

You may have noticed (did you really?) I have asked actually ordered those who are still fall under the category of minor to stay away from this posting. Seems like it is crime and if not crime then something to be made fun of to be over 30 (or very close to) and post here in this board. Who drives this discussion board? Who posts interesting stuff other than “ I want a date’” “I am a hunk, do you wanna date me ?” and so on?

I have even posted the warning in German. You cannot shake off the influence of reading all those Second World War comics where all the Germans were bad guys and all the English and Americans were good guys. Prejudice, what can I say? That brings me to the column written by our cyber pal Logical Sense. It seems he has left his logic and reasoning in some organic Cappucino Bar somewhre in California! That is a whole other subject I may want to attack in my next posting. Maybe I won’t. I guess I could have posted this under the “Column” but did not feel like staying in column ghetto. Felt like it was some sort of stale pond where even the fishies ( I know I know the correct plular term for fish. My daughter has a great influence on me) were bored swimming. Besides, what makes my writing good enough to be in that section and others don’t? Do I want to post there because it is neat and orderly? Have some sort of “special” place for everybody to see and somehow gratified and exhilarated by the attention? Hey ashes to ashes, dust to dust….. who am I to expect my writing to be immortal and clean and shining all the time? Then again I am sure the web master is generous enough to let me post there if I [or anybody for that matter] desire so (a lot of smiley faces).

Isn’t this place just absolutely fabulous?? Did you pay your due by the way? Don’t forget! Me? Well according to some deep undercover agent, I was by far the most generous contributor last year, therefore, I am taking refuge in that donation – still. Allow me that much ok? Life is already hard when one starts going to grad school and don’t forget how financially draining it is!

So, those who defied my order and read anyway I want to ask you to act your age. And, immediately. What is this acting your age anyway? Unless you are under 15 then I would have different expectation from you. Have you heard of Piaget? Well I am a believer of his theory. Age appropriateness! People under 15 still don’t have fully developed cognitive structures and lack conceptual reasoning. So, if you are over 15 then I expect you to act age appropriate meaning mature, meaning with a sound reasoning meaning coherently, meaning with a balance view, meaning with well-balanced thought! See what I mean?

Well enjoy [or not enjoy]! Your prerogative. I merely write.
anepalikt Posted on 26-Sep-02 08:51 AM

Cool, very very cool, NK!!

And "column ghetto"?! thats funny.

Also, San, do let that other thread remain. Better have that take up space than "I want a girlfriend" thread.

sally Posted on 26-Sep-02 11:48 AM

Yes NK, I oooo jksldjflskj creeeeeeak

Excuse me. A little interference there from my arthritic fingers.

I personally am 28. I know I'm 28 because it turns out there's research that says the age people feel inside is pretty much always 28. I understand from my 80-something great-aunt that she feels 28 too.

And I know I must be 28 because I definitely DON'T feel 21. There's a difference. I think you get to be 28 and then feel 28 forever, and before then you're sort of ... well ... I dunno, I forget what you feel like. Personally I've been FEELING MY AGE a lot lately cuz there's a new girl at work and she's very nice and smart and from an Ivy League and all but she sez things like "when I was in high school."

HIGH SCHOOL? God, does anyone remember high school? I think I've blocked it. Actually I think I blocked it about a year afterwards, which I'd like to pretend is a sign that I was having such a good time in high school that I couldn't remember it in the morning, but I don't know if that was the case, cuz I can't remember.

Also she says things like "I could never date a guy who was ..." She has this long list, like (a) wasn't a practicing Catholic, (b) isn't a native speaker of English, (c) doesn't send witty emails ...

But really. She's very nice. I like her. It just makes me feel my age ...

Now here are some comments only addressed to the older and wiser persons, who I am confident are the only people reading this thread because NK barred all the minors, plus, even better, all the mental minors. Or at least barred all the minors who could speak German.

Hey, did you notice how the words "I could NEVER" sort of disappear from our vocabularies as we become older and wiser? I personally was NEVER going to ... well, get married, for one thing.

We elders are so tolerant, aren't we? Except of boring threads by little-widdle teeny bopper babus looking for hot hunks or sizzlin' babes. Like, who cares? Zzzzzzz. Of course being so elderly I easily take a nap in my rocker anyway.

jkljaldsf kj jkjkl xnvlk12ja Dad-blast it, that danged arthritis again ... creeeeeeeak ...

Sally, Sally, meine lieb Sally!
hehehehe

Suna, I will write some more about this "acting age" once I finish my lunch. Yes, oat bran straight from some organic farm in California. Do you think I will contradict the same affliction that is afflicting my good friend Logical Sense?

Koko! French? Since when my dear? Suna, could you please translate that for me?

hehehe
(lots and lots of smiley faces)
anepalikt Posted on 26-Sep-02 12:08 PM

Sally, you are a riot!!! Personally I am waiting for my physical age to catch up with what I think is my real age - between 36 to 45.

Hopefully this will not make me Africa or Europe…:)
Suna Posted on 26-Sep-02 12:14 PM

then I must be SIBERIA!!!!!
LOL
actually NK, you really missed out on my posting so I will attempt again:

Acting my age:
with children below the age of 15: I act like them which is only appropriate hoina ta? lest they get tarnished by my cynical views on life and its twists and turns.
with friends ranging anywhere from 24-50: I act according to their conversations and their moods
with cyberfolk: ummm very very grey area so I just tend to act according to their postings which has lately started to range from 2-60!

I think I'm also stuck at 26-28!!!!
:)
NK Posted on 26-Sep-02 12:17 PM

just a teeny correction. I think it should be freundin. This language! god forbid!
anepalikt Posted on 26-Sep-02 12:33 PM

I think this age thing might just get me over that writer's block I was having in terms of that article I was gonna write for the column...

(Did you know that I was having writer's block? imagine that. Now, if the flood gates are opened, NK you will be held responsible by the poor sould on Sajha. hehe)
NK Posted on 26-Sep-02 01:16 PM

Anepalikt! Let it unfold! Rather let your creative energy flood the sajha land! Wait! Let me bring my life jacket first!

VillageVoice Posted on 26-Sep-02 02:14 PM

Hi NK-ji:

where do i begin??? ... welcome, back. Or, are you saying bye to sajha - well, I don't know, really.

"Acting your age" ... hmmmm. that's a nice one. One of the things (or curse?) about ageing is that one gets addicted to "political analysis", as opposed to simple naivete' (now don't get to me about the spelling. this is a tricky one!)

timlai pani sajha achanomo gardhan thapeko justo bhayo justo chha abaa ayera????? c'mon, not you, nk.

oohi, (patented?)

VV :)
NK Posted on 26-Sep-02 03:57 PM

Village Voice jeeee. Since when a name of a place starting to have a 'ji' suffix I am wondering and pondering? Should I start calling MS Garden Madison Square Garden jee? Or, how about Metropolitan Operaji?

I get lost with Nepali politics if that is what you are talking about. I try to educate myself by reading Paschim, you or Nepe time to time but threshold of my attention span is so thin as soon as they say re of republican or mo of monarchy I start to fret and drum my fingers and start click on random threads.

Suna I like that category 2-60, by the by. Good thing you remebered what you wrote.:) Did you hear something btw? I am indeed a "cyber didi." Just go look at Paschim and chat thread, napattaya. I sound *that* mature,eh? I am patting myself on the back! :))
VillageVoice Posted on 26-Sep-02 04:10 PM

Hehe, nk-JI.

the word politics here has nothing to do with, nepal's politics. far from it. i was just making reference to ageing. how with age, unlike when you were young, young, your see things through the prism of your experience/baggage. while travelling, for example ...

to me, there's nothing great about ageing, or being young for that matter. either you are interesting - or you are not. period.
SITARA Posted on 26-Sep-02 04:22 PM

NK...what a rioting thread and all the ladies are a riot!!! Nice!

Is it the rejuvenation of Sajha that brings back life and vitality into Sajhaland?

VV JI........ Agreed, Has been Agreeing, Will be Agreeing...with you for ever!!!!! on your last post!!!!!!

Now there is a man with a vision and a voice! :)

Sally;...... My fingers have never typed so much even in my Undergrad days!!!!!
but guess what, my spellings are getting more phonetic (like Nepali) and typos are getting blurred!!!!
Is it age or just the mutiny of my body?????? :)
anepalikt Posted on 26-Sep-02 04:55 PM

Age and mutiny of the body?

One and the same thing, Sitara!!

I say with age the body revolts... however we try it has its own mind, be it fingers we talk about or whatever:)

Might as well give up, accept the arthritic joints, the crows feet, and whatever else unmentionable that comes with age. If it is totally unacceptable, I say look for drugs that will sooth your aches, but not dull your mind. But hey! if you want to join me in my 35-46 age range and be Mrs. Robinson incarnate - corsets, stilettos and and a bottle of gin it is!

:)
VillageVoice Posted on 26-Sep-02 05:48 PM

sitara, tks for those words. needed my moment at Sajha - fleeting that it may be :). been following your postings. great stuffs.

one a different note, ladies, i just have a feeling that i'm in the wrong place in the wrong time ... one visit a day keeps the doc away.
SITARA Posted on 26-Sep-02 06:39 PM

VV ji;

You are very kind... I have read whatever you have posted so... although your voice is seldom heard, your presence is felt...I mean it. :)
Also, you might want to try an apple for the age old remedy........!!!:)
NK Posted on 27-Sep-02 11:20 AM

how come "all" the "ladies" are quiet? it is Friday! Waiter! Bring that Martini Straight up and the lady in the corner with a "Graduate" on her side - give her gin no tonic.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Deep, I really did not understand your posting on this thread. Am I that stupid? Every day a new revealation!
Biruwa Posted on 27-Sep-02 02:07 PM

I always say that my native language is Nepali as opposed to "Nepalese". Also I encourage one & all to say "Nepali mountain range" than the stupid sounding "Nepalese mountain range".

Since when was the English language granted patent right to call my language as "Nepalese". Just because the English Speakers r lazy to vocalize our words in the way we do doesn't give us an excuse to follow them come what may.

And Sitara, since when did the word Nepali just became just another phonetic word. Does that mean that all nepali words spoken by a foreigner or foreign-loving person become automatically phonetic. Excuse me for become so "hot"~, the AC isn't working in my room :( but I find it outrageous when some body indicates to me that it is inappropriate to say that I am a Nepali.

P.S please feel free to constructively criticize me. :)
Pashupati nath le hami sabai ko kalyan garun!
Biruwa Posted on 27-Sep-02 02:10 PM

Sitara,

Please don't equate typing "Nepali" to u're other typos. IT IS NOT!
anepalikt Posted on 27-Sep-02 02:20 PM

Biruwa: You are getting kinda hot under the collar. Kina ho? Sound mighty frustrated! I agre with you, I personally choose "Nepali" vx. "Nepalese". It makes sense to me politically. But the bone you seem to be trying to pick with Sitara about whether she said saying "nepali" versus "Nepalese" seems to be a imaginary bone. When she said in an earlier post that her spelling is phonetic like Nepali, I simply understood it to mean that Nepali is a phonetic language. I don't think she was implying that saying "Nepali" is not correct or inferiour to calling ourselved "Nepalese".

I am quite curious about why you are getting so upset. Khai kina ho? I suggest you read her post again and if I am wrong, please correct me.
Deep Posted on 27-Sep-02 02:48 PM

NK, here is the sequence:

anepalikt: ...if the flood gates are opened, NK you will be held responsible by the poor sould on Sajha. hehe) .

Now, does this sequence make any sense?
Biruwa Posted on 27-Sep-02 04:16 PM

anepalikt,

That makes sense.
SITARA Posted on 27-Sep-02 04:37 PM

Anepalikt..Thank you!

English is not phonetic and Nepali is.....and so when I revert back and forth, my English starts getting phonetic!

My eyes are getting blurred meaning " I have made so many typos that I cease to see them sometimes...."

You have read in between the lines I have typed and have taken the trouble to explain to those who are quick to jump to conclusions! :)
I appreciate that!
SITARA Posted on 27-Sep-02 04:40 PM

Biruwa ji....thank you for taking the time to read Anepalikt's explanation.

I am sure that helps in comprehension....
My appologies that I did not spell it out. :)

For watching his reaction to it.

SOULFREE Posted on 28-Sep-02 09:15 AM

AGE FACTOR??? Hummmm

I feel Like i was never born. Does that make me count my age in negative?

If somebody asks me " how old do you feel?" -- "Ahh.. I feel I am (negative) 1 right now!!) -- I am gonna born next year -- (and next year never comes)"
Biruwa Posted on 28-Sep-02 12:59 PM

Reading subtle hints, taking in the 'BIG PICTURE', making my mark at sajha.com and then balance all that with my social life, my work, studies and then the much needed sleep.

Sometimes it is better if the posters "spell it out". It might sound coarse but in the end you might want to reach the wider mass rather than just the "literati". ppl don't have all the time in the world to take in u're literary ventures:).

JUST A THOUGHT!
SITARA Posted on 28-Sep-02 03:13 PM

Biruwa Ji,

Thank you for your loud thought! Do I have to come out flashy, like the animated "sun" with "cool" glasses like you posted on my posting????????

Come now, why would I want to undermine people's intelligence? :)
NK Posted on 28-Sep-02 04:31 PM

deep balla balla bujhe. :) kasto garo bha hagi?

kalanidi, by the way can you be my consultant when I am ready to change my name? You seem to have a knack for it....
what I really wanted to ask was can I be your friend? You can coo Rilke and Goethe in my ears, translation following of course, and I will bombard you with my rough tough jarring (not my own words)poems (no comma in between those adjectives please!) Do you think this friendship will last? What are the chances? Do not fret about my age too much. To be in 40's is not that bad at all :))) I assure you I won't embarrass you too much.
