Paramendra, I think they are trying to postpone it, not cancel it. But anyway, you are right, they held this 'powwow of cowards' in Baluwatar yesterday, and tried to find a way not to hold the election next month. I find it so disgusting that thinks like general elections are not taken seriously these days by our leaders.I mean, come on, that will be the first time people will be facing the rebels directly. To say that people don't participate in election out of fear is only partially true, look at Kashmir, the turn out was more than 40% in last week's election.

Biswo, I am with you one hundred percent there. How can you postpone elections - not matter what the pretext - and yet remain a democracy ? How long? Now this may sound like a big talk to people who are sick of terror and violence. But the show has to gone. Whatever the cost. To compromise with basic premises of a democracy is to compromise with demoracy itself. Yes, the turnout will be poor - may even be negligible in some areas. Ironically enough, even major pol. parties are now unsure if they want elections - typical of them. But will the law and order situation get any better say in six months. Maoists, who want to stall elections at any cost, will be at it again. Then what?

Screw Elections! Screw Dambar KC! Nepal needs a dictator who can run the show. Nepal isn't ready for "bandar ko hath ma nariwal" doyaquasi.
