Hellbound, Do I know you? Are you somebody who disappeared into the tech world to make millions after graduating? And a fan of guns and roses at one time? Thanks

Would like to know the name of Nepali people who went to Stanford. It is very pleasant to hear of Nepali's representation at Stanford. Rishi

Alas, I only know of two other Nepalis who turned down Stanford to attend other schools loacted in colder climes :-) But wait, time-wise, how come your cousin is admitted in October 2002 for Fall 2003? Did he defer his admission? I am just wondering which Stanford school admits people in early October? Certainly NOT the College, nor the B-school and the law school. O-e Rishi, an old SCN buddy, kay cha haal-khabar? Good to see you on sajha. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Hey guys, Made a mistake. My cousin got a letter from Stanford to apply due to his high SAT scores, not got admission. His parents pretty much told everyone that he got in already, you know the Gorkhe pride?! Anyway I emailed him to log on to Sajha and get the info you guys provided. Sorry I was so quick to post that thread, he is looking to speak to the students/ alumni about the CoLA programs there.

Nepali Kanchi, that's called advertisement. Getting a letter urging to apply doesn't mean he will get admitted. I too got a letter from MIT, but did I get in? Heck no!

Well, Nepali Kanchi, I understand. We all make mistakes, and that's life From what little I understand about the admission process, top colleges fiercely compete for top students, and the game starts early by their sending out letters of invitation to anyone who scores above, say, 1300 on the SATs. One should be happy to get such a letter, but not get drunk on it. The letter is no guarantee for anything, and Sanford is supremely difficult to get in. That said, best wishes to your cousin. Hope he gets in. Tell him to work really hard on his application essays. [Is he at Rato Bangala, by any chance?] Talking about Gorkhay Pride, in Nepal, I have a lot of fun meeting some people who attended Harvard Summer School for three months for this and that, and, now i Kathmandu, consider themselves Harvard graduates. Then again, why spoil their fun, right? Live and let leave. oohi ashu ktm, nepal
