The Patriots dropped their second consecutive game, losing 26-13 to the Dolphins on Oct. 6. The Patriots were stymied by the Dolphins rejuvenated defensive line and fall to 0-13 in Miami in September and October. They can take some consolation that Sunday's loss was similar to a 30-10 drubbing in Miami a year ago, when quarterback Tom Brady threw for just 86 yards. The Patriots recovered from that defeat, their worst of the season, and went on to win the Super Bowl - ESPN

Can they repeat the SB this year in the same manner?

The Patriots' problems are mostly defensive. Mainly, they've been susceptible to the run. New England Pats needs to do a better job of stopping the run. That's got to be the No. 1 priority. The Pats must use their multiple defensive looks to their advantage, which they haven't done consistently yet.

Offensively, the Pats are making too many mistakes (Tom Brady threw two picks Sunday). So they have to protect the ball better.

Being a Pats' supporter (not fan!!), I won't be surprised if they repeat the SB champianship this year:)

AX Jee,
No teams in NFL are unbeatable! Dolphins might be last year's Rams... They're just being over-hyped this year.

The pats didn't fluke last year. Fluke can be once or twice...but not until SB champianship win:)

Dear boston_dude,

As a football fan...I must say, most of the prediction which you have posted is reasonable (Anyway this is just week 5). However, do not count less for "RED SKIN". They have found first rounder quaterback Patric Ramsey (Future of Red Skin) who can carry team into next level in NFL. Look @ last week's performance against Titan. He has manage 6 third down conversion in a row and took Red Skin to the victory even star running back was not on line up....

NFC

East
1. Philadelphia
2. Red Skin

Go Skin

boston_dude Posted on 10-Oct-02 09:33 AM

Kool_Dude,

sorry bro. Skins are skins. They were great and mighty once but that was a long time ago. You possibly can't be serious about this rookie QB. If he were that good, why was he the 3rd guy, behind those 2 horrible QBs? I watched a few Redskins games and I was not impressed at all. Skins got a lot of hype in the preseason which we all know is not played seriously at all.

Rusty,

I used to love the Pats. But, since they traded Drew away, my heart does not allow me to support them. I have always maintained that Brady is a good QB (better than average) and he can manage games. He will not lose games for you but he wont win games for u either. Bledsoe is the man, on the other hand. He has some limitations so he needs a good offensive line to block him. Give him that and he can win games for you. I think he is only second to Bret Favre in the league right now. Besides, he was a hell of a good man treated awefully by Bellichek. THat is why I dont support Pats. WE WANNA WIN, BUT NOT AT ALL COSTS!

Kool_Dude Posted on 10-Oct-02 11:37 AM

boston_dude,

I am agree with your comment on Red Skins performance so far.....Looking into last year when Drew Bledso got injured and Tom Brady took over...No need to explain what happen after that......I am not saying Red Skins will win Super Bowl or Division championship..The way rookie QB played last week, as a Red Skins fan, I am optimistic that Red Skins will advance to playoff......As of week 5, NFC East which their standing...

2) NYG 3W-2L

..boys!

hehehe
boston_dude Posted on 14-Oct-02 10:48 AM

Hehe indeed!!

I thought the Pat's offence would at least be able to overcome a depleted GB packer passing defence, but heck when the whole world knows you are gonna pass, I guess even backup defenders can defend it.

When will the Pats win again? Not until Bellichick and Charlie Weis realise that they can't take an average QB (Brady) and turn him into Kart Warner. Brady is Charlie's and Bellichick's boy and they want to prove desperately that Brady is equal to Bledsoe. Well, I think by now we all know that this is not the case. Yesterday, Brady threw deep passes. I should say tried to throw deep passes. One after another against a weak, back up secondary. What did he get? Interception and incompletions. Not a single completion. Brady is not Bledsoe and he aint not Warner either, no matter how hard Charlie and Bellichik try. Pats changed thier offence this year from a smash mouth, running attack of last year to prove this point and this is why they are losing games.

Problems with defence and everything else is exposed mainly because of the position they are left by the offence. So, until they change the entire philosophy of this year, and go back to playing smash mouth football of last year, Pat's wont win. Not against good teams. They need to realise that Brady is closer to Jay Fiedler of Miami and not to Bledsoe or Warner.

Pats lose yet again; and Bledsoe and the Bills win again!

Haha... This is more fun than I thought I was gonna have. I had predicted Patsies to lose against Denver but I didn't think they would lose that badly. Hmmm... come next week, Patsies will be 3-5 and Bills will be 6-3!

I think by now everyone is finding out that Brady is an average QB who cannot throw the deep ball, and that last year was an aberration. It was the defence and special teams that won games for Brady last year. This year, he has to be the man and carry the team. I think we are finding out he cant do that. It's not his fault. He is who he is. It's Bellichick's fault for thinking he was so much more. It is Bellichick's fault for trading the wrong guy. The guy who is now in Buffalo and making him look like an idiot.

C'mon Brady supporters.. lay down your Dunkin Donuts Steak Egg and Cheese sandwich and defend your man :)

AX,
I will be consulting Trikal before makin any prediction:p
DWI Posted on 21-Nov-02 09:45 PM

Is Pennington for real?
He has already played 6 games and I think that is enough for dismissing him as a fluke. But is he as good, consistently as he has shown himself as? Is he good as Joe Namath?

Boy, I sure like the local Rookie stars. Pennington(rookie year as a player on the field), Jeremy Shocky, Coles ...I wonder how NY teams drafted so many talents.

I see good future for both Jets and Giants this season. Jets have tough schedule, but hope they will emerge over. What do u guys think?
AX Posted on 22-Nov-02 09:58 AM

as DWI said NY teams are playing great, but they won't be going anywhere yet (especially JETS). I really do think they are medicore teams. With the tough schedules (4 away) ahead JETS will stumbled. I don't think Pennington is that good what we are seeing now. When team changes the players, (espcially QBs in NFL) they usually play good. And after getting the job, it;s hard for them to keep up the expectation. NE and the Brady is prime example of it.

GIANTS may have some hope winning the division with McNabb being out in Philly. Collins is playing great after Fassel started to call the play. Their Defense is questionable, especially run defense after Kieth Hamilton's injury. Can this Blonde Dumb Rookie Shockey can stop yapping. Let his play do the talking. He can be really good contributor
to the team. Give some more snap to Thunder Ron Dyane. He can be really productive. They will loose in the first playoff game.

I think JETS will go 7-9 and GIANTS 10-6 for the season.

Still sticking with my preditcion for the Superbowl:

Indy Over Tampa Bay(did ESPN rank them #1 :P)

Peace
DWI Posted on 22-Nov-02 10:42 AM

I think you're right on the money AX. I am not sure about the Superbowl yet, but the prediction about Giants and Jets seem a practical prediction.
I just hope Pennington continues his star like numbers (Brady and Warner are still doing it) and Jets reach the playoff. Also hope Giants advance further from the first round of playoffs. I think Shockey is for real, though. I think its his agent who is yapping too much and making him flap his wing that much, he seems to be a likeable guy otherwise.
Boston_Dude Posted on 22-Nov-02 03:21 PM

6 games is not enough to judge a QB. Even a season is not enough. If that were the case, then Miami QB: Ray Lucas would have been a starter and not a back up after his performance with Jets a few years back. And had he been a starter, then imagine where that team would be now. After all, he managed make Miami stink.

So, dont get carried away with Pennington. He might turn out to be good, but you can tell that in 6 games.

New QBs do tend to perform well in NFL until defences start recognizing thier weaknesses. Success of new QBs partly lies in the fact that opposing defences dont know how to prepare for these guys.

Look at Brady. He is NOT playing well. Sure he has high completion rate....etc..etc... bottom line is: His superbowl team of last year is 5-5 right now. opposing defences know he cannot throw the deep ball. And he has proven this over and over again. So, good defences have adjusted their game plan and made him a non factor. I have noticed they dont even defend against the deep ball half decent against him anymore. Against the Raiders, he missed wide open receivers down the field. WHy were they open like that? because they were daring him to throw deep. Knowing he could not.
