Crime Watch: Man who cured AIDS proves to be fake
Hemkumar Dulal
Kathmandu, October 10,
Ramesh Kumar Acharya, who had claimed to have cured HIV/AIDS patients, reportedly presented fake documents and cheated people.
Talking to The Himalayan Times, Rohabar Thapa, deputy superintendent police in Surkhet district, said that two persons -- Narendra Khadka and Rajendra Poudel -- came to the district police office and reported that they were Acharya's accomplices and had been cheated by him. "Acharya promised to give us Rs 10,000 per month if we would lie that we were HIV positive and had got cured after being treated by him", they told Thapa.
Organising a press conference some weeks ago, Acharya presented the two as Suman Shahi and Khagendra Gautam, who claimed they were recovered patients.
Asked why they resorted to fake identities, Poudel said Acharya had fake certificates in the names of Suman Shahi and Khagendra Gautam. "It was not possible for Acharya to change the names in the certificates, so he made us lie about our names," they reportedly told the police officer.
