I think there is a hindi channel in India as Doorddarshan. But we can also coin words for that , after all our language is also rich. I have a few suggestions here. we will select democratically 1. "Doordarshan yantra". Seems more like choreko. 2. "Doordrishya hetu yantra" 3. "Shrabyadrishya taranga bishleshak" This is my favourite, what do you say? I have other collected and coined words too; churot; swet lamba chusika rail gadi: lauha pathagami chakachaka yantra caculator: ganak yantra plz do write me feedback also i would like to no if you know tohre typical nepali words.

of the three words for televison, i liked "Shrabyadrishya taranga bishleshak" the best. i would have neve come up with that. i like ur "churot; swet lamba chusika" as well tabponski. can't stop laughing. so i suppose there is no official word for television in nepali. haven't heard one yet. ek puriya

Here are my choices: Television= Roopa-Baahinee Telescope= Door-Darshikaa Telephone= Dhwani-Baahinee Cell phone= Kaushik-Dwani-Baahinee Microphone= Laghu-Dhwani Baahak Ear phone= KarNa-Dhwani-Graahak Microscope= Suxma-Darshikaa Timer= Samaya-Baachak Database= Tathyaankaadhaar Printer-port= Mudran-gaah Email= Vidhyut-Dank Calculator= GaNak Computer= Sang-GaNak Super computer= Ugra-SangGaNak Note: Personally, I am against Sanskritization of techie words. I have expressed some of my views/arguments on this during my exchange with Biswo ji in his rather an old thread ‘Fantasy Crowds And Revelations’. “…I am not uncomfortable with the weird translation of English to Sanskrit, but rather with the whole idea of translation/invention/creation of Sanskrit equivalence of every technological term. Can we ever catch/keep up with advances in the field of science and technology happening so fast that we see everyday new terms coming out ? I don’t think we can. We will need a large number of experts who are ever vigilant, up-to-date (actually up-to-hour or up-to-minute) and expert in multiple disciplines. Even this will not be sufficient. Then comes training/informing the public. Then comes popular acceptance and etc etc. So the practical question is- is this a worthy/pragmatic/economical/wise thing to do ?…. “ If you are interested to read more, here is the link: http://www.sukuti.com/archives/articles/3298.htm#14821
