Politics, Poly-tics and Pul-tics Desh Bhakta Bhattarai Us Nepalese people have different point of views on our present situation...here are some of the people's reactions and views... --------------------------------------------- "The wise person not only says the right thing at the right time, but also controls the temptation to tell the right thing at the wrong time" This is an ironic quote. Every person has his or her own point of views. Every person has its own world. Your world does not match mine and mine doesn't match your. In the same way, your point of view does not entirely match with mine. We all do not understand this simple fact of life...and thats why there is so much suffering. As the Four Noble Truths of Life say: 'There will always be suffering, death and disease in the world. The cause of suffering is desire. Suffering can be ended. The only way to end suffering is by following the Noble Eightfold paths -- right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness and right concentration' We all -- you, me, and many of us -- don't follow them. That is why there is so much chaos, violence, rat-races and political crisis." -- A wise, but mourning intellectual from Kathmandu "Politics, to most of us Nepalese people, is a set of "discussions" by some drunkard people in a party. We don't think we have a part to play in the crisis. All we think is that politics is for people like Girija, Bhattarai, Makune, and Baam. That is why I say: "We don't regard politics as politics but 'pul-tics'!" We all are "peepal paate". We change sides according to situation. We, Nepalese people can be regarded as 'bhenda-bakhra'. We don't know what is happening around us, and we just go on with the multitude!" -- An unhappy collage student in Dang "Around 2017 B.S., I know that people used to be terrified of the Congressi people. The similar situation is preceeding right now...we all are terrified about the monarchists. However, in 2017 B.S., the King took over, but still people were satisfied...they didn't care. Ask a really poor street kid about politics...he doesn't care. Ask a really old begger in Pashupatinath about what he thinks about the king's step...he doesn't care! All he cares is about getting his food and shelter...so does the street kid, and so the Kamai-ya, the Dalit, the Bahun Baaje, the Kshetrey Kaaji, the Poode...the Damai! Everybody needs stability! Everybody needs their basic human rights." -- A saddened social worker in Biratnagar "I say what happens, happens for good. Panchayat didn't work, but did the promising democracy work? We all were promised to get equal rights, where are those rights? Where is the Neta who came to take the vote in our village...he's enjoying his Pajero car ride to Hotel De L'Annapurna. He comes after 5 years and asks for vote again...and what does he do for us? Nothing!" -- A poor villager in the remote part of Kavrepalanchowk district. "Prachanda Baad Jinda-baat!..." -- A three-year old kid in Rukhum taught to say that. "If I believe in democracy, they say I am Maoist! If I believe in the King...they say I'm Panche! I don't know whose side should I take!" -- A jobless teacher in Dhading "The Maoists killed my father, saying he was a policeman...the army killed my mother, saying she was Maoist! I don't have to say anything else..." -- A teenager who fled Rolpa to Kathmandu to escape violence. ------------------------------------------ What are your reactions Sajhayetis? ~DBB

great thread dbb.i liked the way how several people put forward their equally several prospectives Now i dont know if the people u quoted were actually real or imagined, but i didnt mind. if u have been visiting sajha, which i know u are.. u should be fairly able to predict reactions of so called sajhaits. Reminds you of that wise- ass intellectual from kathmandu, doesnt it? i suggest u ask comment from someone with yet another different prespective( or of presumed probable) if u are really keen on the answers.if u were just trying to hari bansharize the topic,i apologise for my uptight "prespective".;) --- sunnyside, nyc
