Mahendra Man Sakya (aka Honda) is a past president of The Greater Boston Nepali Community. At present, he is the president of the Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) in Kathmandu. Inspired by the success of McDonald's in the West, he's been running, since 1996, fast-food momo chains in Kathmandu to great commercial success. oohi ashu ktm, nepal ********************** Dear All, The President Mahendra Man Shakya, has been felicitated with Gorkha Dashain Bahu IV today at the palace. He has been given this award for serving the community as the President of GAA. I think this is very good news for all of us and Mahendra dai needs to be congratulated for this honor bestowed upon him. Thanks Rajiv RAJIV PRADHAN GENERAL SECRETARY GODAVARI ALUMNI ASSOCIATION KATHMANDU, NEPAL

Ashu, Please convey my hearty congrats to Honda hai. I knew he had in him when he first opened his "5-Star Momo" near Kumari Cinema..later "Momo-King" franchise. He had told me that he was thinking of opening one in Delhi as well. Do you know what happened to that plan? He surely has got great entrepreneurial and leadership skills. Kudos, Honda!!

Mahendra dai, Congratulation. It is good to see your name in the limelight again. GAA will undoubtedly benefit from your leadership. I hope this award drives you further to serve the Nepali community, be it in Nepal, US or elsewhere. Your intense, heated discussions are sorely missed in Boston :) Bik Yonjan.

Hi guys, Honda is the second GAA president to be awarded a GDB. The first one was Raju Dev Acharya, three years ago -- or so I am told. That said, I, for one, would NOT be surprised and would wish him the best if Honda ended up being the elected Mayor of Kathmandu or something more in, say, the next five to 10 years' time. That said, Koko, for the last one year, the GAA has been anyting but a half-dead oranization. The present volunteer-run Executive Committee is filled with top-level professionals, business executives, bankers, entrepreneurs etc, most of whom (including myself) were/are personally recruited to be on the Committee by Honda himself . . . to put together a first-rate team with incredible 'social capital', drive, energy, ideas and a sense of team-work. The GAA, it's fair to say, is a lot more exciting place today than it was before. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Hi all, I have no idea who this "nell" character is. Then again, by now, I am quite used to some people's saying that they are my good friends or, for that matter, my bitter enemies . . . and that's life. :-) [Memo to Nell: Send me an email, and I'll see whether I really know you and vice versa.] On another note, those of you -- present and former GAA members -- who live in or out of Nepal, please email your: name email address, and your STX Class Year (even if you did finish your SLC or beyond at STX) to Ms. Sangita Mahat at GAA. Sangita is the full-time administrative officer at GAA, and her job is to assist -- on a professional level -- the volunteer-run Executive Committee to do its job better. Once Sangita has your name and email address on file, she will email you regular upadates/PDF files of alumni newsletters and stuff like that. She can be reached at: info@gaa.com.np PS: There's a party, coming this Tuesday evening to formally congratulate Honda on his GDB. oohi Member, GAA Executive Committee 2002-2004 ashu ktm, nepal
