I would strongly suggest you not to visit Nepal when you are in your opt. But if you have confidence that you can get VISA from Nepal, then I would suggest you to definitely go and visit your family. Because confidence is the main thing and luck comes next. Why don't you finish your opt, get a job, apply for H1 and then think of going. I guess thats the right thing to do. Don't you have any source force at the Embassy? I heard that if you have someone to back you up, you won't have any problem. You know back force right. Very common word for people in Nepal.
The best risk is not taking one.
