As we all know Deepawali is on our doors. I have been asked many times whether you prefer Dashain or Deepawali eventhouth they are unseperable. They have their different meaning and we all are familiar with that. For me, a little bit, kata kata, I like Deepawali. You know its just 5 days and it goes really fast. Its short and sweet. Fireworks, deusi, bhailo. I never go outside on Bhaili. Just decoration with mom, candle lights, diwos. Another thing, how can I miss those lovely ladies dancing with adornment playing bhailo songs. Nowadays, I know its been tilted towards financial thing. People who cannot afford giving money spit on Deepawali ((the festival of lights)) let me remind you ((not the festival of money)). This is an auspicious ocassion which we celebrate with love and devotion and with propitous one ness. It is not done for money. We give money because we want to, NOT BECAUSE WE HAVE TO. Having said that, there are many other things and its a wonderful festival. A FESTIVAL WHERE ALL NEPALESE UNITE IN HARMONY TO SAY IN ONE VOICE THAT WE HAVE THE PURE NEPALI HEART NO MATTER WHERE WE GO. WE REMEMBER THE FESTIVAL WHEREVER WE ARE. TO ALL NEPALESE IN SAJHA, a very happy and gracious Deepawali. With love and best wishes, Krishna....

krishna , I like both Dashain and Tihar. Indeed there are inseparable and it depends on how you celebrate. Also the enthusiasm shown by people around you effects the way you view each of these festivals and all festivals! For example here in US when people here show enthusiasm on halloween then I also feel a certain enthusiasm. When tiny tots come for candy I can't resist! Happy Tihar

You are true Biruwa. I totally accede with you. Every festival has its own enthusiam and a certain kind of excitement. I am not trying to argue on who likes Deepawali and who likes Dashain. I cannot afford to even commit such a crime. Both of those remain in my heart as long as they exist, forever. Having said that, there are many things which I like about Deepawali and ofcourse many of them about Dashain. The enviroment in Dashain is just spectacular. The fireworks in Deepawali is splendid. Bali, kat mar, is what I don't like about Dashain. Where in Tihar we do celebrate animals. I am totally against killing eventhough its a tradition of honouring the Goddess. It is totally my opinion and my belief that even the Goddess herself wouldn't want her creation to be slayed mercilessly. Tyeti bhanda feri khasi tanne pahila manche mai nai hunchhu feri hehe. Tesaile I don't want to explain any further. The smileyland website is terrific. Happy Deepawali, Krishna!
