About a year ago, there was a conference or whatever at the World Bank about the Poverty Reduction Strategies in developing countries. Did Nepal prepare one? I searched in the master's [I have renamed the WB as the MASTER based on "The Master of Illusion: The WorldBank and the Poverty of Nation"] website but could not find it. Does anyone have any idea where I can find it, if it exists? Your help will be much appreciated. FYA, MP

The "one" in the first sentence of the second paragraph refers to the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper. Sorry! FYA, MP

MP, send me an e-mail. I can direct you to a friend at the bank (PREM group) who may be able to help you.

MP, Nepal's 10th Five Year Plan and it's Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) are the same thing. You can find a Concept Paper on that at the web site of the National Planning Commission (NPC): http://npc.gov.np:8080/prsp/mtef_prsp/index.jsp These PRSPs have been mandated to be prepared in a "participatory" manner -- and that conference you mentioned in January reviewed this facet of PRSPs, among other things, in one of the sessions. You might find that critical and frank retrospective study on Participation in PRSPs prepared by a task force led by a Nepali useful also: http://www.worldbank.org/participation/PRSPretro.pdf
