It's been plaguing me for a while .......

Is Sunkesari (the beautiful lady of many a folk story) actually a BLOND?
If not, what's the connection between their Soon-jasto kapal?

Enlighten me someone and put me outta my misery.

(Hope my stupidity doesn't beget stupidity ;) )

Hmm, that's interesting. She COULD be a character from our past. Now Scythians, who were of indo-european origin, and mostly blonde and blue eyed, settled in Kashmir and NWFP, and IMO, they also settled in Nepal. Now in some regions in Nepal you can still find insulated cases of blondism and rufosity here and there. Kashmir is also very close to Nepal. Another interesting thing to know is that most of those blonde Afghans you see on TV are actually kids. Over time, as they grow, their hair turns dark. This probably has to do with local admixture, BUT nevertheless, it doesn't change the fact that the place does have foreign influence. Same thing in Nepal too. I know some relatives of mine who got light colored hair. You don't notice these things when you're in Nepal because it's RIGHT in front of you. But when you come to the US, where race is such a big issue, you tend to think about your heritage.

So, I think Sunkesari is a protagonist of some ancient Scythian folklore.
