Following are my musings:

Today is the day of Laxmi puja. Musing,Musing,Musing about Laxmi.........., It is high time that I bring home my own Griha Laxmi ;) . You know. the one who is Parvati, Gayatri or Sita etc. etc.

Girls these days like to believe themselves as something beyond approach -like some star in the Sky (No pun intended!). They want to have a one night stand and want their conscience to be clear the next morning. They want to play the chasing game and yet consider themselves supreme.

Oh, I guess I meandered a bit there. Well, talking about Laxmi- Laxmi is the goddess of wealth. In here reverie, people brighten their homes, sweep their dwellings clean and in the evening worship the idol of goddess Laxmi. Seeets such as Barfi, Laddu and Lakhamari and Jeri are distributed among the family members. Coming to think of it - while Dashain is more of a gettoghther(a social function kind of thing), Tihar is celebrated in more of a private way in many housholds. This is the Day to remember our material gain and wish for more earthly prosperity for the coming year.

Laxmi, the consort of Bishnu - the 'pizza boy' of wealth. And who does not need wealth?
It is said that a Jogi (bhikari) does not find salace either here or in the other world. Yogi on the other hand uses his wealth to come closer to God- 'Our Bhagawan'.

Oh and about my Griha Laxmi.... will write about it some other time :)

Happy Tihar!
Life is a wonderful gift of God to humankind. You can spend it the way you chose. You find in it whatever you look for.
Don't generalize the situation. If you go to an apple orchard, you can find so many different types. You need to be able to pick up the right kind.
Material gain is nice so long as you realize that none of these entities in this material world is permanent and you are realistic in your approach. You should be able to take both losses and gains in your stride and I can assure you, you will be a happy man.
May Goddess Laxmi bring you wealth, health, success and happiness in your life!

Thank you Aludai for your wish. I consider all those whose birthday it is today specially LUCKY ;) for they get to be born in a day which is so auspicious. While people might say that we have contradiciton in terms with Laxmi prasad DevKota I still think he was rich.

RICH in terms of his heart ...........

Again the materialistic world that has become today is the cause of much worry and tears.

I just found an excellent discourse on Deusi and Bhailo in Kathmandu post titled
Changing sounds of music By Perina Pathak.

The link to that article is:
