ofcourse Eminem is talented than whatever symphony.

1. He made so much money from his 3 albums that whatever symphony just dreams about.

2. Each and every member of that symphony might have gone to some music school, so it's not SURPRISING. Eminem is a highschool dropout, and didn't have any experience in learning music. But still he shooked the world.

3. Almost everyone agrees RAP is MUSIC.
That symphony doesn't agree RAP is MUSIC. you decide which one is better? Majority or minority?

4. you cant nod your head, shake your booty and rock your body, while listing to boston symphony. You can do that in the case of Eminem...

Sajhapur Nov 08 - The movie "8 miles" has been released. Controversial rap star Eminem makes his acting debut in thus hard-edged urban drama, inspired in part by incidents from the musician's own life.

Jimmy Smith (Eminem), known to his friends as Rabbit, is a young man trying to make his way out of the burned-out shell of inner-city Detroit. Rabbit's entire life has been a hard climb, and it certainly hasn't gotten any easier lately; Rabbit has just been dumped by his girlfriend, forcing him to move back in with his emotionally unstable mother, Stephanie (Kim Bassinger), and he's getting along especially poorly with Stephanie's new boyfriend. Rabbit has a factory job that's tough, demeaning, and doesn't pay especially well, and he's convinced his skills as a rapper are his only real hope at a better life. Rabbit makes music with a crew of DJ's and MC's who call themselves Three One Third, among them his close friend Future (Mekhi Phifer), but his status as a white kid making music in a predominantly African-American community and culture is extremely intimidating, and after Rabbit freezes up in the midst of an MC battle, he's convinced he's missed his chance and that he's doomed to lead a marginal life as a factory rat for the rest of his days. With the help of his friends, and his new girlfriend Alex (Brittany Murphy), Rabbit struggles to work up the courage and the confidence to take one more shot at making his dream a reality.

8 Mile was shot on location in Detroit; the name refers to 8 Mile Road, a thoroughfare along the city's perimeter which effectively separates the middle-class suburban neighborhoods from the lower-class inner-city.

I appreciate that musical tastes are different, so I'd be cautious about denigrating music played by the Boston Symphony.

As for the inspirational qualities of music, that depends on what floats our boats you would agree surely ? My personal preferences lean towards what the symphony plays.

Of my own volition I have never sought to hear rap or Mr. Enminem's music and couldnt identify it if I was asked to. If every piece of music of that genre was ejected into space this weekend, I for one, wouldnt miss it one little bit.

Nevetheless, I am sure the world would be the poorer for it and Mr. Eminmem and his ilk have talents and creativity that many obviously agree are worthy. I say, to each their own. Paani tyanki kai kasam.

Awright! What kind of question is that? (Here I go again folks. Hehe. Do you remember Bizuli? Sorry la Bizuli? :0] If I may say so, this question is even dumber than a banana peel! If I were Eminem I would have said, what the freaking fudge!! And then maybe **** (!) at the end.

When you say Boston Symphony Orchestra what exactly do you mean? The conductors? The old conductor? The new conductor? The musical piece? Which one? What kind? Symphony? Requiem? Concerto? Mozart? Bach? Bethoven? Hendel? Any year particular are you thinking of that you did not like? I am a bit puzzled of your comparison with an institution and a person. Or are you saying Eminem is an institution? Maybe he is becoming one. If you read NY Times Sunday magazine...

I have mentioned before - in the past summer, I think - that I listen to Eminem and I like his music. Especially, Hailey's song touched my heart. And few others. I think he is quite a good artist. Great? That I don't know. If you ask my nephew might scoff at you. He will say, "Of course, he is the greatest!" Ppoverty has no color and his songs are borne out of stark poverty and a neglectful house and society. What is rap after all, right?

I go to Tangle Wood to hear BSO and also in Huntington Avenue. Sometimes they have good programs and sometimes not. No surprise there. Not all songs Eminem sings are great and not all classical music is fantastic. There are really baaaaad classical music.

(note: I am no expert in classical music and certainly not a rap groupie. I just happen to have some interest what goes around me. That is all.)

Eminem's all right. It's not coz he's talented that he's earning money, but rather it's because his songs are controversial. Lose Yourself and Cleaning out my closet are pretty nice. But all in all, I think Nelly is better, except for that song of his, "Dilemma ", which to me, sounds like a pop song! And who/what the hell is Boston Symphony? Do they sing lullabies?

I think not only they sing lullabies they sing punk rock too. Just last wednesday they were doing now on-so-yesterday tchno. The audience were booing. They also do pop and if you want they are ready to bare their mid-riff, pull down their pants down to dhariwal hawaldar kattu and show the piereced belly button. Don't wanna believe me? Ask Seiji Ojawa. He might be hard to reach since he moved to Vienna, but, if you tell him NK asked you to ask he might return your call. Good luck!

I am sorry, but whatever you said, half of it, i didn't get it. Quarter of the rest went over my head. What ever I absorbed, let me tell you one thing, I dont' dislike symphony, neither i am a die hard fan of eminem.

I just answered this question, which opened up this thread. "which one do you guys think is talent. Eminem or Boston symphony". It is about talent. If you compare the talent of Boston symphony and eminem, then I'd go for eminem. ....why? well i am too tired to tell you why, and I hope you know the reason. If the fellas from boston sympohony go to music school and came up with symphony, and eminem, a highscool dropout who doesn't have any musical background, came up with a record that sold in millions and most people appreciated it too, then guess who was more talented? (by the way, people don't criticised eminem's lyrics writing ability, rapping and his music, he is criticised he hurt some people with his lyrics)

i don't know, i am dumb -- i shouldn't be answering in the first place. :)

Lets dispense with the 'I am dumb' routine shall we ? If anything, you are a talented writer who has brought much needed comic relief to this sometimes intense place. I have literally fallen of my chair in laughter reading some of earlier your narratives ! "Paank tyanki kai kasam" (hopefully its not a copy right violation to quote you?)

I don't critisize M&M's music at all. Admirable that a Detroit high school droput from the grittier part of town shot to fame and fortune. Kudos to him.

What I do object to is the flaying of the music played by the Boston Symphony. What they play has been proven to have staying power and mass appeal over a few centuries even. Yes, a few centuries.

What stand the test of time might be a better judge of quality in my book. Will Eminems music be be examined, studied, marvelled at two centuries from now ? Will anyone train, 10 hours a day for 15 years to play his music? Will anyone pay $2500 for a ticket to a performance of Eminmen at some posh auditorium 50 years from now ?

Mr. Eminems music is considered a phenonmenon for the here and now. Where will his music be 20 years from now ? On some 'oldies' radio station. And perhaps the occasional blast emanating from the basement stereo while you run on the treadmill as you contemplate kids, soccer practice and mortgage payments. Ghastly thoughts, eh ? Steady there man, have a drink.

Again, I say to you, to each their own. Vive la difference !
