Dear friends, You may remember I promised in my last email dated February 25, 2001. I am pleased to share my thoughts with you again about the direction of ANA and style of management. In this communication, I wish to highlight the torch of process and growth of ANA, especially with respect to NECC and my modest role in it. Some 20 years ago we were searching for the land and property in and around Washington Metro. Area so that ANA could have it’s identity and personality. Like the homeless tenant in Washington D.C. ANA went to pillar to post in search of lasting refuse. Thanks to Ms. Janaki Giri and her $50,000 loan, we were able to buy a property and begin the process of building a temple complex in Lanham Maryland next to Shiva Vishnu temple of India. I am pleased and proud to say that in last six months (since the inauguration on September 30, 2000) , we have been able to attract about 6000 devotees and generate about $40,000 as Puja and dakshina funds for our mandir. There are moments of choices and moments of decisions in the life of any organization. As chairman of NECC, I strongly believe that our Pashupati-Buddha Mandir is reaching a critical point of growth and development as a center of cultural and educational activities and also cluster of religious and spiritual practices. Next few years is going to be very critical in these regards. My colleagues and I have therefore decided that in order to preserve our present foundation and build upon the future prospectus of NECC. We should try to take leadership role in the initiation of policy and management of programs of ANA and NECC. Allow me present briefly the hilights of the carrier of my team members who will take the leadership position should we win the next election. Introduction of my team Krishna Nirola; President Krishna Nirola is a Civil Engineer working for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority since 1983. He is a founder member of ANA since its inception,he has contributed to ANA & NECC from Registering ANA in DC to development of NECC. He has been contributing to the growth and welfare of Nepal Educational and Cultural Center, a division of ANA and served as Chairman of NECC Commitee since the bigning of this organization. He is a key contrbutor of NECC and Pashupati-Buddha Mandir to bring this important organization to where it is to day from very starting point. He has been working very hard towards NECC building construction projecrt by exploring new avenues to bring our dreams come true. He was an Executive Member, ANA's Treasurer for 6 years & he is a Vice-President since last consecutive years. Meena Giri; Vice President Meena Giri is a Case Manager of the Community Services Group. She is one of the Board of Directors of Mental Health Foundation. She is also a therapist in the St. Joseph Hospital. She is a founder member and one of the life members and the past executives of ANA. She is honest, sincere and candid candidate for the position of ANA Vice President. She has been instrumental in fund raising for the ANA and other non-profit organizations. She is always ready to reach out members and displayed her leadership role in any social, cultural events. She has made over 45 life members and several members of ANA. She flew to Oregon to collect ANA life member dues of Bimal and Roopa Pathak. When ANA Cultural Education Center was short of money to buy the property, she had persuaded her own sister Mrs. Janaki Giri from New Zealand to obtain a loan of fifty thousand dollars. Any Nepali or American & Indian friends of Nepal visiting her do not leave her house without ANA membership and copy of ANA Directory. Mahendra Karki; Treasurer Professionally, Mr. Karki is a scientist working at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. He holds a Ph. D. degree in Satellite Meteorology from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida. He is the life member of ANA and has been involved very actively in various activities of Nepal Education And Culture Center (NECC) for the past few years. He played a key role to make the initiation/inauguration of our Pashupati-Buddha Mandir in Lanham, Maryland a grand success. He has been volunteering countless hours for the betterment of NECC and the community at large. I have a great confidence in Mr. Karki's abilities and I hope he will serve ANA in a better way by holding such a responsible position. Rita Stickland; Chief Editor Reeta Stecklein is one of the founders, life and past executive member of ANA. She is a good communicator and is dedicated in promoting Nepali causes. Reeta has helped ANA in Fund Raising and organizing various ANA functions. She hosted the Third Annual Meeting of ANA in the Greater Washington D.C. area. I wish all the best to Prahlad KC. He was of great help when Kamaiya activist Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary was in Boston this past March. Still, I am surprised that his bio here (as posted by Mabi) does NOT make any direct reference to his numerous GBNC-related kaam. I assume Prahlad Dai is being modest. oohi ashu

Best of Luck Pralhad Dai. You can count my vote. We have missed your leadership lately. Hopefully we will see you active in ANA again.
