Dear San,
How's it going? This is Biruwa, the plant. I have a request for you.
How about adding the edit capability in sajha. Which will allow a person to edit something that he has just posted. I know that many people people wish to add or substract some of their writing once they have posted.
If this can be done then that would be really great!
Aru sabai thik cha. Lau ta aru pachi kura garaunla! :-)

How about a rating system for a threads.. .. over time users will vote and every 24 hours (assuming thats how long a thread survives on the main page) it will be ranked, just like the BCS rankings...
Re: Edit capabilities, could you require those particularly LAAAMO posters to include an "abstract" of their ganthan....
And EDIT would be good

Edit would be wonderful. May be a request through email should do (but that is lot of work for the Sys Admin).
I have a request myself.
A way to easily navigate those threads where I(one) have made contributions. It takes a while to navigate through different threads and difficult to keep track where had I posted somethings. Many times the questions are lost.
For now I find at least one of my postings and click on my name then click on 'Sajha Postings' and then go one by one on the list to see who answered on my postings.
I wish there was easy way than this because I want to follow other posters in the same way, which is painful.

What kind of editing capability are we talking about here?
As far as I know there are more than 2 editing capabilities.
I am familiar with 2.
1. Remember forum board in Yahoo.com?
You write a message, and you post it. Then comes a page which looks like a page that is similar to the page viewable in the Internet. It has 2 buttons, edit or post, so that you can read your posting and edit it and then post it.
If you are talking about this one, then I am with you.
2. There is the other one, where you can edit the content after you have posted the whole thing. If this is the edit capability you are talking about, then I AM NOT WITH YOU. Remember that one of the most popular thread "Paramendra bhagat appointed". If I had started that thread, I am sure that I would have edited that posting so many times, that the thread would become "Dharmendra disappointed". I am sure there are bunch of WEIRD people out there, who are just LIKE ME, who cuss like me; who just don't give a fu** like me who dress like me; walk, talk and act like me and just might be the next best thing ... You know what I mean. I mean that thread might lose the originality. The mood. The Feeling, that you had right on that moment, and as that moment passed by, you lost that feeling.
Some night I am jhyap jhyap, and I come to GBNC, and I write, and every thing I write looks "oh so fine"!! And I go to bed, and People start replying on that message, I wake up next morning, listening to the koyel si boli of sauni ki chori, I come back to the GBNC, and khaaying "JHATKA", looking at my posting and the things I have written. I will try to cover the patches by re-editing the whole message, and the feeling will be changed, the whole context will be changed and thats how "Paramendra bhagat appointed" thread will be "Dharmendra disappointed". aahhh
Batauli JYU, NOOOOO NOOOOO NO RATING please!!
Its flop in most of the BEST forum board. People will RATE for "people" rather than the content. Too much favouritism will roam around in the forum board. Sometime people don't even read most of the contents. Think about it, Somebody read Deep Jyu's story. and he loves it. he/she gives 5 star to Deep Jyu, and he goes to Paramendra's thread. He gets "jhatka" by the length of the content and he just ignores the whole thread. That would be unfair to Paramendra. Wouldn't it?
How about ICON next to the Name? Just kidding.
how about FREE BEER TO EVERYONE??? comeon over!! You guys know where. If you don't , ask HIPPIE JYU. hahaha

There are times I have cringed at my the number of misspelt words and khattam
gammar in some of my sajha postings :-)
Since I too type straight into the "message box" -- in a stream of consciousnss-style -- and then click on the "submit message" button, I am also for adding an editing feature that allows you to edit your posting (for spelling, simple grammar, etc) BEFORE you
post.
Once posted, yes, no editing, except that you can make additional postings which also can be edited BEFORE being posted.
Biruwa, the plant shows that "hoo.nay biruwa ko chillo paat . . ."

if the thread is not generated by you, then you cannot edit ni ta..
The person can only edit if he/she has posted ni..not everyone..
if that is what other people are also thinking..
But yahoo type would be good..

And if the thread is generated by you, YOU can edit ni ta.
My whole point is One who generates the thread can edit it. He/she will modify it, and the Original context will be modiefied.

Hello All,
I have been thinking about a VIEW page where you get to view how your posting will look like before you finalize posting. I will implement it as soon as I can spare some time to get that working - probably in a couple of weeks time.
Besides that, we will not be implementing the 'edit' function since as some users have pointed out, it will take away the 'spur of the moment'ness of sajha.

I knew there would be sajhites like me who cringe on their mis-spelt words and other errors. For example I made a mistake in one of the postings in another thread sometime back and wanted to edit it after posting but san jyu deleted my message without consulting me!
In fact without the edit feature this site has become very centralized. Adding the editing feature would be a step towards decentralization of power catching the spirit of napster. ;-)
Thanking ashu, KaLaNkIsThAn , oys_chill , lonely ( u are not alone anymore!) and batauli I would like to point out that once the edit feature is available then the rest of the gang will also realize how very useful that tool will be. Infact a 12 hour period during which the edit feature will be available to the original author will be great.
