In recent weeks, Nepal lost three highly accomplished Nepalis. 1) Lain Singh Bangdel (artist and writer) 2) Rishi Kesh Shah (scholar-statesman), and Naya Raj Pant (Sanskrit scholar/historian). Each of the above blazed the trail in his own domain, inspired many, made enemies and ultimately showed us all --through their life's work -- that with imagination, hardwork, persistence and dedication, much is possible in Nepal, and much is also not possible in Nepal. Today's (Saturday's) Kantipur daily's Koseli supplement carries a tribute paid to late Pant by his sons -- Mahesh Raj and Dinesh Raj. With characteristic honesty, the Pant brothers call their own father "unsucessful" and then give thought-provoking reasons why. As someone tired of reading too many sugary obituaries (that hint at insincerity) in Nepali newspapers, I found it refreshing t read Pant brothers's short assessment of their own father's life. Check out today's Kantipur. oohi ashu ktm, nepal
