[Wanted to write something to Hahooguru and Kalankisthan on the thread 'Illustrations...' and to Biruwa for his quite an informative posting on Psychoanalalysis and answer Nepe. But, could not resist to post these two so-called poems. anepalikt! Please don't brand this yet another "campy" poetry thingy!! That would break my heart and may neverbe the same!!!! :) ] My Love Affair You throw them around, You even kick them. Take it in your hand, And, slam dunk it! You run a whole 50 yards, Hear the adulation of 50 millions, Words, you win my heart And you wound me! Scatter them around, And, still make a beautiful picture. Use it to abuse, Mysterious, superfluous, Dazzling, mesmerizing, blasé’ and Gorgeous! Words, you quench my thirst, Like a embrace of a lover. You and I, For Better and Worse. Let me use you to abuse, Let me take you in my arms, Caress you. You and I, See where will we end up, In this unbending, Unending landscape. Song of Myself (A tribute to Whitman] I want to soar above your abode O! Lord! spreading my wings wide and blinding white I have a story to tell frenzied rhapsody until I turn blue in my face I want to live breathing fire left and right and on your face I want to be in your arms rapturous and breathless till the dawn peaks through my drafty window... Aba honestly critique garna ni nahune bhayo... Tara pheri according to a new thread on modern definitions... an honest opinion openly expressed is the same thing as a yawn. After all, I don’t want to bore people, do I. I am kidding! :P Seriously though, ramro lagyo malai ta. Especially the tribute to Whitman… Passionate. Nice to see another Whitman fan. WEll most of the time most of us. Having said that, you know, it does n ot hurt to get that kind of comment here and there. :) Have a wonderful time in good ol' Kathamandu. Btw,did you meet ''oohi?" Do you wanna hear something? He read it and he really thought the first poem was about basket b all!!!! arrrgggghhhh!! I think NK's first poem is about "words". She is in love with "words". Words can be expressed in any way imaginable. That's the gist of her first poem. Notice how she repeats "words" twice. Good poem. Second one is pretty obvious I guess.

But my opinions about the way you write is for you to hear! :) Yes, hajur, you are a fine writer....no frills, thrills and preening spills ( attempt at rhyming! :) Do write more often! Sitara Jeu [I must say it is not really me to address somebody with Jeu, but hey, even an old dog learns a new trick in this day and age :)] [ you know, something? I sometimes want to write everything in parenthesis. Like an after-thought, like something not so important. As the case is . What do you say?] [anyway,] just as I was giving up on you, you graced this thread with your entrance. [yes, honesty is my vice and virtue, if I may say so. also, I think as a writer one ought to be honest or at least be damn good at pretending. Or else, it would look like a Swiss Cheese, or it emperor’s new clothes?] Anepalikt, I think I enjoy reading Whitman but I am more of a Emily Dickinson’s “fan.” My first poem was inspired by these two poems. And, red_herring, New kid in the block? Dekhya jasto lagdaina.Yes my dear, the first poem is * about words. Bingo! J HE ate and drank the precious words, His spirit grew robust; He knew no more that he was poor, Nor that his frame was dust. He danced along the dingy days, 5 And this bequest of wings Was but a book. What liberty A loosened spirit brings! A WORD is dead When it is said, Some say. I say it just Begins to live 5 That day. Look what Emily D. says : DROWNING is not so pitiful As the attempt to rise…. I loved the way she observes words, men, women, death so closely… Khyal_Thatta, I really liked your poem. Why don’t you post in Devanagiri too? Maybe a new thread? So that people can enjoy your poem on its own.

NK The one and only Dickinson and her style of writing....amazing! Thanks for the bonus two poetries. I have "graced" your thread re? Trust me, I have "graced" it with candidness, no sarcasm this time! And my sarcasms are not dressed in "smirks and smiles" and as suna and slipknot say: they drip with poison (if I feel the need to do so).... drrrip, drrrip, drrrrip...:) But not this time. Again, I have read your writings, and the endearing quality remains the same in all...honesty! Anepalikt You are no doubt a firebrand with a good heart (and a big mouth to boot!! :P), quick to laugh and quick to yell!.....very few are blessed with such :)

Nice poems NK. Refreshing indeed! **Words, you win my heart And you wound me!** liked this part. So you're also an admirer of Whitman? Speaking of Whitman, Adam, a friend of mine who was a Whitman fanatic brought his book of poems to my apt. one day and my roommate and I chose a verse from one of Whitman's poems which is the only part I know by heart. And that verse we chose was for our Personal greeting in our Answering Machine which went like this: Stranger, if you passing meet me And desire to speak with me, Why should you not speak with me? And WHY should I not speak with you? LEAVE A MESSAGE!! But then our other roommates didn't like it so they erased it after a couple of days :( Ani Dickinson ko ta k garnu kura. She is the queen of poetry who captures the heart and soul. here's one of my favs. MY river runs to thee: Blue sea, wilt welcome me? My river waits reply. Oh sea, look graciously! I ’ll fetch thee brooks From spotted nooks,— Say, sea, Take me!

Silhouette against the shade with moonlight as it's facade. Dancing branches swaying in the breeze two stolen kisses in the shadows of the trees. The wind howls and swirls the limb of branches in the wind. The moonlight silhouetted against the sky will cast it's spell on you and I.

Mero pani jawos... ===================== The contours on your bed I left Carved in restful sleeps Tell of prurient nights before the lull Why did you always choose the left side? I do not know, nor can I recall Why you wept everytime at the summit Your nails, deep into my skin, Holding me tight-- The marks I still carry, like the moon Smeared with dark lines, In your grip, while in your long arms! I do not recall How we said good bye Nor any tears that trickled from your eyes Time has eased the pain and age, the memory, New faces, new smiles, new agony Give meaning to a new day, new life. As I sit here, reminiscing in the past, I see you caressing the right side of your bed Eyes shut tight in a frigid, tranquil night You drift to the window, staring at the sky Collecting stars in your hands, Standing alone in a moonless night! ========= Peace!

It is not hard to say good bye Thursting hair-pin back, I put my hair in a neat pile. Some renegade strand, Might have freed itself , From the tyranny of the pin. Moon, hung low and calm, Plays peek-a-boo with, Playful cloud abound, Peeks from one corner Of my window, Disappears in my doorway. Dimple in your cheek, Teases your long eyelashes. Stillness aftermath storm, Sheet the eyewitness. Moon still playing peek-a-boo, Touches your neck, Ever so softly. Casts a long shadow, Before saying goodby, In the sea of cloud. [I know this poem is not a good one, but before I went to bed I wanted to write something.] And what is this - arranged marriage? who and where whose???? how come I was not in the loop? :))

No one knows when the mountain will give way when the river will be gentle again when the peak will be in my reach all I see is a storm. No none knows when the Buddha will shine in each of us when we raise our hand in favor when we will learn to respect others when others are treated as brothers all I feel is hatred. But I know the storm will wash away the path will lead the mountain the Buddha in us will not be quiet and we all will be free then all I feel is peace. Yet another traveller Lost in memoirs of a well-travelled self, Traces his dark lines of wounds Itched in your memory, Your goodby without sorrow. ====================== Thaha Chha: Nice poem there brother... LOST IN LOVE ask a dove, how hard it is to be away from the loved one, ask the bee, how hard it is to be without a queen, ask the soil, how hard it is to be without water, if you know what i mean, just feel the pain inside me.... people say I am crazy, yes i am...so what?? live like an ant, love like a dove, that is what i follow, and what i learned in life, and when i get her, why shouldn't i love her to the fullest... before i used to see life as a dead end, the end of days, but now i value my life very important not for me, but for her, before i used to see myself as dead and gone, now i see my life as dead and alive.. this change of thoughts within myself came with her, the extreme inner pleasure just to be with her, i know my spring will come with her, now all i wanna do is spend my life with her...

Kishun ji: I asked the dove, how hard it is to be away from the loved one? He said, "Wtf do I know, I am always in louv!" I asked the bee, how hard it is to be without a queen? She said, "Goddamit fella, all I do is follow!" I asked the soil, how hard it is to be without water? It said, "I love water feller, but not when it's your pee!" So I dunno what you mean, but pain yes, I can feel when mah b*#*# bites me! :) All in jest, Kisun ji, and yes, I liked your poem. Am glad you found love, my best wishes for you with your Radhika. :) Peace!

so kishunji, you in love, eh? lucky woman! Thanks everybody [ I am thanking quite a few people tonight. I think my cranky mood has passed. Soon it will be full moon. ARe you all afraid? :)))]. I honestly think my poems here are mediocore at best but it is fun to play some sort of poetry dohari. Isn't it? Kicked stones around Made holes on soles Cursed at birds flying above I am madder than 'basi' of Raachi I want to lie flat on the ground You walked on and kiss it until I am knocked out! Hey! I have even forgotten my name forgot how to walk without being maimed You should hear when I try to talk I sound like a croaking crow with hole in its head However, I do remember the paved walk way The winding road, the maddening wind that used to blow in my mind whenever I thought of you whereever I tried to kiss you Now, I am in a dark place Corner of a seething space In an endless grind Of a raging mind; The bursting Sun Threatens me with Its shameless Roundness, Grins at me Teeth baring Toes curling hair flying; He wants to burn me, Burn me, Now tell me, Now, do tell me, Who will cry for me?

NK, Here is the English translation of Dialtone's poem: Wet dreams of mine, let flow from my eyes, Asphixiated breathing, let cremate in my mind Freezing is the pillow, show not the night Thirst of life, let me consummate. (so, let your desire flow before you go raving mad!!) :P Something very Freudian in this one too............. hmmmmm......... Dialtone ji...very nice though!! :)

NK, After reminiscing the movie "8 mile" I watched the other day, you made me wack couple of raps on this rough track:p So where's all the MAD Rappers at? It's like a jungle in this habitat But all you savage cats, know that I was strapped wit gats when you were cuddlin a cabbage Patch Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got somethin to say but nothin comes out when they move their lips; just a bunch of gibberish- Eminem:p Good thing about rap- "you don't have to understand to take pleasure in." Well, a good poet can write raps/rhymes very easily. So, NK you can give a try:) Also, let me translate the last poem. But, not now:p

Holy Cow! That was a good one. Thank you for the translation Sitara. I hope that is what she/he meant. You wanna hear a funny thing? I read her/his name as 'dalit one' as in ADAWAN, as in dalit woman. And, when I read your translation I read as 'Dial Tone' as in beeeeeeep. Then, I went back and read her/his name once more and it is actually 'D-a-i-l-tone. Well. Rusty, I think ( I am kinda sure on this actually) rap is one of the most easily understood form of poetry. It rhymes (almost all the time) so that even a first grader can write and as in my cousin's case a ninth grader. Eminem's poetry (rapping) comes from his surrounding. He is an angry young man. Not like Amitabh Bacchan who ACTED as an "angry young man" and sang other people's songs and danced like a bakula. A neglectful mother, a trailer park for a home and a dead end job. Penniless and voiceless. Eminem embodies the whole underclass. In his case he is far from voiceless. He is talented and damn good at that. So suck it up :P [i love this little 'p' thing] It seems women of my generation are totally taken up by his charm (rap). I read a column my Maureen Dowd (NYTimes) how little boys and girls are embarrassed that their mothers like Eminem. They should be hating him.... There is somethng about Eminem and his rapping and rasping and hissing... [yesterday, I horrified a bunch of m y friends when my husband disclosed I listen to Eminem, the rapper who threatens to rape his girlfriend and kill her...]Like I said he is a "ghetto" kid. What do you expect from him? A sermon on Buddha and his Middle Path? I don't think so. Besides he is a poet. Let him express his anger in the most (probably) despicable way. I don't have to love everything about him. I like his songs. ....Do I sound like his spokeswoman? So be it! :) I wrote this little poem for my 3 year old daugher. Gunaji, I hope you will read this to y our daughter. My daughter liked it. :) Carla and Me Buzz buzz buzz Buzzing busy bee; It sat and sat on your Triangular Tepee; It ate us up You and me; It is round and round Hasgurgling sound; Squeashy Mushy with all those honey Has A big tooshie; Oh help me! Please help me! We are in his tummy! Is his tummy Big enough For you and me? ;)

Folks, not that I post in Sajha regularly like some folks do, but just wanted to let you all know {in case you might be wondering where the hell i am :-)} that like Ashutosh, I too will be back in Sajha after a hiatus of three months and perhaps in a new avatar. Well, i've enjoyed reading you all, sharing with you what little knowledge i have. Thank you so very much for this wonderful experience of learning. I'll be helluva busy with pre and post graduation works (yes i'm graduating in four weeks!) then perhaps will be travelling to the east and the west coast for a couple of months before I start working which is yet another struggle. Anyway, before I sign off, I want to share with you all this poem which was inspired by a friend whose writings have been a great source of inspiration for me. Finding it appropriate for this thread, i want to dedicate this to all the great literary tigers and tigresses of Sajha and wish you all the very best in all your endeavours!! Regards, Dilasha ****************** Words A smooth flow of thoughts assembled Then you pass it on to me In your words I lose myself; And that my dear is the beauty Your words enrapture me Like the soft zephyr that brushes my skin 'tis so refreshing Lost in the labyrinth This mystery so enchanting When I'm submerged in the ocean of reality Your words pull me to the surface and make me dream Immobile I remain...for a moment, then I dance to the music played by your orchestra of words I can feel the rhythm The magical moment, such pure ecstasy The collage you form evokes awareness That which elevates me to a different level And intoxicates me imperceptibly Your passion is vivid so is your dream Like precious pearls floating on a stream And I plunge into it, picking them up One by one...

"There's a big white lady on a big white doorstep She asked her daddy and her daddy said "yes" Has to give a little for the dollars that we get Has to give a little - They say it's for the best Somebody shouted Maybe But they kept on living from hand to mouth Hand to mouth, hand to mouth, hand to mouth So she ran to the arms of America And she kissed the powers that be And someone told me (Someone told me) That the gods believe in nothing So with empty hands I pray And I tell myself One day They just might see me..."

Aren't you guys tired of reading poetry ? Here is a joke for refreshment ! Two Stupid guys are discussing one's upcoming wedding..."I'm not sure if my future bride is a virgin or not." His buddy replies, "Oh, there's an easy test for that. All you need is some red paint, some blue paint and a shovel. You paint one ball red and one ball blue. On your honeymoon, if she laughs and says 'Those are the funniest balls I've ever seen!' You hit her with the shovel

Slipknot/Rusty, I am so glad you liked my thoughts/poem. Here is another one for you two. I NEED RAIN =========== The sky is dark The lake is dry The cloud is light There is no sign of rain. The sun will come tomorrow But with more heat and pain, The moon might come tomorrow, But there is no sign of rain. Spring came and went Monsoon came and went The sun is there all the time I am thirsty I need rain. I can see the cloud full of rain Glooming on the horizon I hope it is not just my imagination The sun is still there challenging my existance I am thirsty for water I need rain. Please go away, I do not need your sympathy. Please do not talk to me, I do not need your philoshopy, All I need is water, I will welcome your efforts for rain I am dying of thirst I need rain. [Sorry! The distress all over the world has dominated my thinking :-)]

Just a try! As I pass by: Brisk morning, Misty canals, Senesced leaves, Carpets all along, Brittle twigs, Give way, As I pass by, Sea gulls soaring, High and low, Dips and flips, Feeding so, Happy,as can be, As I pass by, Thoughts arose, Why do I brood? When all I have, Is 'Today', Thus, I shed a smile, Though, for a while, WELCOME! A new day, yet to be gone! Kalanki jui ko sabda ma bhannu parda, JPT kavita hai!

NK Jyu, Please don't call my poetry a RAP. "I have two small small children". Don't give me heart attack in this age. I am not even married. please, that was not a rap. boooohoooooo!!(sob sob, NK jyu, ... do you have "hankie" on you that i can borrow to blow my nose... ah thanks... bhroooom!!) well, to tell you the truth, i was just trying to modify Dilasha jyu's kabita in my own words, and Half way through I found her kabita really interesting, so I didn't like my idea of changing the words in her kabita and modify it to my stupid poem. (in other words JPT poem.... ) . So i stopped myself after two paragraphs, Mercy! Mercy!! NK jyu.. after all i am just kala NK sthan -- didn't you say that?? kala-NK-sthan means that there is little bit of you in me, you know, technically, ... ahh, literally... so i tend to write some poems due to the effect of NK in my name ni... (i am sure NK jyu is saying, yo kalanki lai katti pyaar pyaar pyaar garna audo rahecha bhanera... right)

NK, Very nice rhyme you wrote for your daughter. I am glad that you’re not utterly against Eminem. I think this is irrelevant topics to talk in this thread, but as you said rhymes/raps are a form of poetry. So, why not talk about Eminem:) Yes, I agree that Eminem’s poetry mostly comes from his own life and surrounding; and yeah, there are several songs about the murder of the mother of Eminem's daughter, Hailey. In a song, I believe the rapper, along with the daughter, removes the corpse from the trunk, and, together, they bury the late mommy: "Here, you wanna help da-da tie a rope around this rock? We'll tie it to her footsie then we'll roll her off the dock." His rap reeks of misogyny (hatred of women), profanity, and an obsession with sex and drugs. However, I think that he's the most talented rap artist ever. I honestly don't think that you could come out and say all those filthy words that he uses in his raps. I know for sure that I cannot. Besides, it's not like he's actually a psychopath killer, or mentally whacko. Music is his way of venting gloom or glee, just like writing on here alleviates your stress, it's the same thing for him. He just have different ways and attitudes to humiliate other celebrities and others. As you mentioned how little boys and girls are embarrassed that their mothers like Eminem. I don’t know the fact about that, but I haven’t heard any real story and statistics about people, who’re influenced by his raps, acting crazy like what he does in his songs. So far as I remember, he has been on the top of hip-hop list since the fall of 1998 after the release of song “My name is”. People have reasons to get offended by his music, but I personally find lots of hilarity/funniness in his songs. Sometimes, I think he’s taking full advantage of “freedom of speech.” Is Eminem my role model? No, he’s not. You said rap was one of the most easily understood forms of poetry. Yes, it is. That’s why hip-hop music has become a popular music over the past few years. As hip-hop has evolved over the 17-20 years, its fan base dramatically broadened. Not only its area of influence broadened, but the race and ethnicities of hip-hop lovers have also. The only hip-hop artist who could write and sing a true poem was 2Pac. I admire most of his lyrics. More later....

Ma hijo auta taruni sanga date ga ko ta yesto bhayo. La suna. The dating game is a difficult one, it's been ten years for me, But tonight's the night for me to express my femininity. I'll start gettin' ready early, there's so much to be done To prepare myself for this wondrous event, so in union we will be one. I'll make a list, that's what I'll do, the preparation a must, Wash me hair, shave me chin; Oh, I'm just fillin' with lust. I'll wax me legs and trim me twat, an' plait me underarms too. This date's a first but I'm sure to impress, yes he's the one that I'll woo. Now for the big decision, will I wear knickers or not, Will he see me as ice maiden cool or think I'm luscious and hot? I'd better pamper me pussy so she'll purr right through the night And I think I'll prop me boobs up, a cleavage would look a sight. Yes, me bright red bra with the underwire, it's sure to make him swell Me in me sexy underwear will send him straight to hell. Gee wizzies I'm so nervous, me stomach's tied in knots Me bowels are fairly churnin', I hope I don't get the trots. I wonder what he'll look like, maybe a cowboy, rough but smart Big ears, big nose and big riding boots, cause' I'm just a cowgirl at heart. We could pretend we're at the rodeo riding them wild beasts, Then we could have midnight snack, body chocolate a sumptuous feast. Well, I know you fellas are disgruntled that it's not gonna be one of you But if you want to win one like me, here's what you gotta do… Whisper sweet nothin's in her ear, a little romance to bait her But there's a time and place for everything so leave the tongue 'till later. Cuddle and caress her for she's a goddess to be sure And she'll grab you by the family jewels and lock the bloody door. But in the meantime, it's now my turn, this one is just for me, 'Cause tonight's the night for me to express my femininity.

That dawn will come, When from centuries of darkness, When the shroud of night will go away, Clouds of sorrow will melt, Ocean of happiness will glimmer, Sky will dance with joy, Earth will sing couplets. We are living to see that great morning for ages, and dying everyday to see that morning, To see that dawn we have poison everyday, We wil then be able to drink the nectar of happiness, when that dawn comes. Right now your and mine desire is worthless Even dust has some worth but there is no value for human life, When human's respect is no longer measured in money, That morning will certainly come someday.
