"...Leaders of the Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist-Leninist) said that the extension of the cabinet by inducting some ex-Panchas and businessmen would not be able to address the national problems..."

The above is the extract from “Parties criticize cabinet expansion, call for integrated movement” title from www.nepalnews.com. I wanted to bring this up because I found the statement profoundly humorous and equally agitating (at the same time).

First and foremost, it is humorous because of the situation the political parties are in today. Suddenly they have found themselves in a hole, and they are trying hard to dig themselves out of it. Hence, they are using to prove their existence.

Secondly, it is agitating as they are the same people who have ruled the country for last 12 years and caused the deteriorating conditions of the country. Besides, they could not address the national problems in last 12 years, how can they complain while the cabinet is not even formed, forget about starting the work.

AS A NEPALI, I CHALLENGE ALL THE POLITICAL PARTIES OF NEPAL TO RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING QUESTION/CONCERN: “WHERE WAS THE NATIONAL INTEREST FOR LAST 12 YEARS? IF WHAT WE SAW IN LAST 12 YEARS WAS YOUR NATIONAL INTEREST, WE WOULD RATHER STAY AWAY FROM YOUR TYPE OF NATIONAL INTEREST, THAT HAS CREATED THE DETERIORATING SITUATIONS OF THE COUNTRY. NEPALI CITIZEN KNOW THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SITUATION, WHETHER YOU ADMIT IT OR NOT.”

I am pretty sure that the response will be overwhelming from the political parties (just being sarcastic!!!). If they ever had any sense of responsibility and accountability, the current situation of the country would never have aroused.

It is obvious that they are trying to protect the so-called “democracy” (or their bread and butter, in reality), but they should understand that it is little too late for that. Once again in the history of Nepal, these political parties and their idiotic political games, proved that the country is not ready for democratic system. Before it happened during years BS 2007-2017 and then, it happened during years BS 2056-present(?!).

My take on the current government is that, they will definitely be more successful than any of the government in past 12 years or may even be more successful than Panchayat governments. I can almost guarantee that they are the better (or appropriate) people to rule the country than any of the party governments of the recent past, well in that case, anybody would be better than them.

Democratic system is a very good concept and it has been successful in most of the countries of the world. However, for the country like ours, where the majority of the people are uneducated, democracy has failed again and again. I am not trying to say that it is totally unacceptable, but I think the better solution would be the model of the single party system and policies of multi party system. Saying that, it is not an easy task (or happen overnight), but it can be a start to a new (more appropriate) concept (for Nepal).

I think the political leaders (Koirala and Nepal) find themselves in a very difficult position. Political parties are only as strong as the people who support and stand behind them. Unfortunately for them, it appears people are not with them. Not anymore anyway. True they are the major political parties in Nepal, but only among the options available at the ballot. I think the king realises this and also realises that since the military is behind him, he does not have much of an opposition. He realises that the so called leaders will moan and bitch but in the end won't mount to much. So, he is going ahead with his agenda.

When he met with these leaders (darsan bhet) and then expanded the cabinet against thier wish, he essentially pointed out just how powerless they are compared to him.

I personally have a few reservations about the king and am not YET conviced that his moves are the best ones. However, given the choice between these political leaders and the king, I will choose the king to show me the way.

Thse losuy UML and Kangressi leaders have nothing else to do. They are out of work of right now. They are locked out of singhdurbar...can't go back to their villages....prachanda&company are all waiting for them there 'ghuchuchuk takera"... their favorate place "mantri mandal" is not their "MOTEL" anymore....so, poor dudes are having tough time!

Neither they can deliver what people want nor they have patience-forget about support-to see what and how others do. If they are not "a" or " the" part of a game, they declare, 'this game is unconstutional....this is against the will of the people....this is against the national interest.....democracy is in grave danger....." Damn bhates!

They bark as if they are the thekedars of constitution... democracy... people's will...national interest... democracy.... Nampumsak bhates! ...kasaile tapai bhanos ki nabhanos....afai...
