Hi all,
I am quite impressd that the Nepali Football
has its own Fan Club which seems to be such
a strong organization.
If only Gita Rana and Ganesh Thapa learnt to
stop their football-related fighting and
kicked the Nepal Foot Ball program into
high gear . . .
Both Kul Chandra Gautam and his son Biplav
have been members of the GBNC too.

NFFC Holds First AGM in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, 27 May 2001-
The Nepal Football Fan Club (NFFC) held its
first ever Annual General Meeting on the 22nd of May 2001. The AGM was buzzing with excitement as members of the NFFC reflected on the achievements of the first 18 months of the fan club's existence and also adopted its plan of action for the future.
NFFC president Bikesh Shrestha, in his address, applauded the NFFC in its work toward bringing about integrity and honesty to the Nepali football community. He also stated that the NFFC had built strong roots within the local community and is fulfilling its social obligations,which made him most proud.
Mr. Shrestha highlighted many of the NFFC's achievements in its short history, which includes serving as a strong voice for the common Nepali football fans, fostering strong relationships with national and international football and media organizations, securing donations of football equipment and clothing for the underprivileged, creating a youth football training program and establishing the most comprehensive Nepali football website (www.bhakundo.org.np).
Through all its activities Mr. Shrestha was confident that the NFFC would play a vital role in the development of football in Nepal and be able to turn its current sluggish state.
At the AGM, the UNICEF Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Kul Chandra
Gautam, was awarded a life membership certificate for his support of the NFFC. He also was elected on to its executive board. The new executive board was elected at the AGM and it is comprised by:

The following decisions were also taken at the AGM:
. Approval of Mr. Bashu Dev Gyawali as financial Auditor General
. Approval of Financial Statements (1999-2000) and Budget
(2000-2001)
. The NFFC Youth Football Program to be given highest priority and funding
. Solicitation of foreign coaches and volunteers to help the NFFC Youth Training Program
. Priority placed on fund raising
. Organizing of the Prince Cup international tournament in late
August 2001
. Continued correspondence with international football and media organizations and bodies
. Continued pressuring of the government and domestic football bodies with regards to their administration, management,
elections, player selection processes and financial transparency
. The establishment of NFFC branch office in the United States
All members of the NFFC expressed their confidence in the future of the organization and its continuing work to improve the state of the sport of football in their Himalayan homeland. The organization also continually attracts attention from abroad. "I feel that the work of Bikesh Shrestha and the NFFC is a fine model for the establishment of similar organizations in other countries," said Michael Raney, Director of Public Relations of the World Football Foundation.
"I would be delighted to see such dedicated people working toward such worthy goals in all countries."
