How many of you in in Kathmandu , actually feel the loss in hospitality sector?
In particular:
1) When u're out in Thamel ( being the most tourist packed area) l, are the streets mum? Are the cafe's and resturants empty? Do you see any tourists?
2) How about other tourist hotspots? Durbar Square, Bhaktapur, Patan...etc?
3) In general , are restuarants/fast food haunts that are popular among Kathmanduites, empty nowadays? Are there less people?
4) Nightlife? Is it true that police checks at night have almost completely stopped people going out at night? Are the nightlife venues/ event still happening? Empty or Packed ?Packed with locals or tourists?
5) How many resturants/ store have actually shut down due to the slump in tourism.Or are plannign to shut down?
6) How about Indians?
7) In everyday life, can you visibly see the hospitality sector beign affected by the political situation?
8) Have you altered your participation in the sector from a year ago due to the "unrest" ?
Even answers to a few would help me out. Its a paper I'm writing for my Industrial Organization class, comapring 911 effects on NYC hospitality industry and post royal massacre effects on kathmandu hospilality. I'll insert Sajha results as a casual survey.
