Hello everyone,

I know this is an old topic but I wanted to know what's happening these days with the renewal of VISA from NEPAL. I am going home this winter but I have been hearing a lot of stuff about it. People are even discouraging me and I am confused and getting frustated..... Does visiting your own home mean taking a RISK? That really sucks. I know a few people whose VISA's have not been granted or are pending. This year 100 students from MIT and many others were rejected VISA's. Lot of the visa cases are pending, even for RETURNING students..... Does anyone has any recent experience of going to Nepal as a returning student? I have been legal in the U.S. and have not gotten in any trouble but it seems like getting a visa from Nepal is so unpredictable.
I would really appreciate if someone has any suggestions for me and for all the people who are going home soon. Thanks Guys, HAPPY THANKSGIVING~~

I visited Nepal once after Sep 11, in last Jan. I re-applied for the visa as the previous one had expired-there was NO PROBLEMO. I got 5 years ko VISA but had to pay a hefty 16,000 Rs. Take all your documents with u;if u are a GTA or a GRA, take your appointment letter;also take your transcripts and sumbit all the stuffs at the Embassy. If u are maintaing a good GPA and if you are getting full financial support from your intitution, then there shouldn't be any reason to stop u from comeing back here.

What if you have an ~~okay GPA and you get half financial aid from the school???
Actually, my situation is a little unique. I came here under someone's sponsorship+half scholarship but unfortunately my sponsor left the country within a year. So I had to apply for a work permit based on economic hardship . After I got the work authorization I began working and am still working but my sponsor is back in the U.S. again. So do you think that I could have troubles due to that reason? Will they look into each and everything? I can't show them my work permit and neither can I say that I have a sponsor.... So what am I supposed to do now :(
