When I first came to the US, I was shocked to see how profanity in language was so common in this country. I was aware of the openness in people’s mind towards sexual attitude, but I had no clue it would be almost acceptable to swear publicly! It's not like the usage of profanity in language doesn't exist in Nepal at all, but I am proud that it is negligible when I try to compare it with this society. Pornographic activities are so strong and open here that I sometimes wonder how me and my other family members would live together in this society if they ever happened to live with me in the US. Sometimes I feel like shooting all those people who promote pornography and profanity publicly putting me into situations where I feel uncomfortable of myself. Why can’t these evils of society be eradicated once and forever? Why can’t we live in a society where we don’t have to feel uneasy of ourselves, our family and we all can communicate with each other without having to let our minds recall those obscene pictures? I am not trying to push the world into a stone age here, neither am I against the idea of freedom of speech. I am also not saying that these are the only two evils in the society that we need to take care of, but if we can learn to live without them, it will definitely help us rid ourselves from many other problems that arise from them. How hard is it to make this small sacrifice when it brings a cleaner world for us to live in?

BabaalJYU,

I am not expert in this matter, and I don't know much about it either... (remember I am "born dummie").

But, I think, if you open yourself up a bit, and don't really care about these kind of things, then you don't have to think of shooting all those people, right?? I think its not the society that is making you feel uncomfortable, but you, yourself. Have you ever been to Pashupatinaath ko mandir? Have you ever been to "Unmatta Bhairab" ko mandir right next to pashupatinaath? Nobody feels uncomfortable when he/she goes to the temple of Unmatta bhairab. It doesn't feel uncomfortable, because the idea of "obscenity" doesn't even pass through our mind. After all, Unmatta bhairab is a God.
You don't wanna be a sinner, thinking badly about God's, when you are in such a sacred place.

If you can deal with that, I think, you can deal with anything that has to do with "obscenity".

By the way, As far as I know, Europe is more open towards sex than any other place of the world. Just visualize a concept of unisex bathroom, which is still a major "no No" in USA.

And how would I know about USA, I am from Kalanki, kathmandu, Nepal. But outside of kathmandu, sex is not a big deal re kyaa. I was reading about some UN group some two years ago, who went to "MELA" in some part of Nepal for sexual disease awareness re kyaa... and they distributed condom to everyone, and taught them how to use it and things like that re kyaa... According to that UN group, that night in Mela, any guy would sleep with any girl re kya... So if you think about it, its a big deal, if you don't, its nothing.

How profane, to shoot those that are, well, profane.

What next ? How about farting ? Thats pretty gross too. Not to mention their contribution to global warming and greenhouse gases.

Henceforth, let it be decreed that the next feller who lets fly anything above 25 decibels..is to be prosecuted, lined up against the nearest wall and shot at dawn.

This would imply that a new corp would have to be recruited and l armed with audible sensors to prowl the busy thoroughfares. Due to their uncanny habit of hearing things none others can, I recommend that all wags and gossips be volunteered for this job as Stink O Sleuths.

The 'fart-O-meters' are to be accurate up to 25 meters and incontestable in a court of law up to this range. Volunteers needed to test and calibrate the equipment. During testing phase, all will be protected by legal exemption.

Before one considers the drain on the national exchequer to operate this new force, I propose that parliament heretofore pass laws allowing the confiscation of all properties of those caught and successfully prosecuted.

Voila, a social good achieved without any cost to the taxpayer!

Happy holidays to friends n foes alike.
