Hi all, I am in the process of mailing my applications to some grad schools. I am having doubts about applying to two schools: Duke and University of Wisconsin-Madison. So, I have decided to make the decision regarding these two universities on the basis of two variables: How large and nice is the South Asian population there? How happening are Durham and Madison? Anybody from Duke or Wisconsin-Madison coming to my rescue? Does Durham have, like, a racist environment or something? PS: Does anybody know Tanisha Fazal at Columbia, probably from her Stanford grad days or Harvard undergrad days? How pleasant is she as a person? Googled her; all I get is her award-winning dissertation etc. What about Atul Kohli and Jagdish Bhagwati at Princeton? My main research interest happens to be the international politics of the subcontinent, and I am interested in working with these people; so if anybody knows them as a person, it would be great to have some info on them. You know, the person behind the intellectual.
