it's been more than a year since our late king Birendra passed away, taking along with him virtually every member of his immediate family. i remember waking up that day to a rainy morning. as i was holidaying in nepal, i'd slept late as usual. as soon as i'd stepped out of my bedroom, i heard the dreadful news. everyone was speechless, so were the media...i couldn't sleep for days on end...that ws the first time in my life when i found myself compelled to ask, 'why, oh why, why such an end to king birendra, dear god?' when i came back here, i brought along a laminated photograph of the royal family. to this day, very often, i am disturbed by the happennings of that fateful day. do anyone of you here feel the same, sometimes? i'm writing this because i wanted to express this feeling to someone at least, so as to relieve some of the 'burden', as i'd like to put it. of course i don't mean to imply that nepalis all over the globe were unaffected by the news, but you guys should've been in nepal at that time to really understand the deep turmoil that the country fell into in the days following the tragedy...that experience haunts me to this day... sorry guys if i wasted your time may the late king birendra's soul rest in peace.

Yes, what you wrote is very true. I was in nepal at that time. I was awakened at around 1.00 am by a phone call and I just didn't believe at first but then I turned on the BBC and they were broadcasting the news. Saddened and shaken, I spent the whole morning in search of some hopes to hang on. The following day, I could just feel the blanket of suspecion clouding the nation, which till date has not been dimmed any further, not even by Ranabhatt's rat tat tat and bha tat tat. By now, time has taught me to accept their absence but not the manipulated truth behind their absence. May their souls rest in peace.

Bal Matlab, I surely do agree guys, It was a tragic moment. Who could have imagined that, the whole Royal family would be killed in a Massacare like that. Remember the tale about Prithvi Narayan Shah, and his achievements. It was fore-casted at that time that there would be some trouble in the 12 ho ki 13th generation( anyway king Birendra's rule) and the whole royal family will be destroyed. That somehow resulted to be true. Nothing more to say, just that I was stunned....... May their souls rest in Peace

I am with you guys there completely. I think about them at least once a day every single day since they died. The Royal Massacre, is what I beleive to be the biggest loss in the entire History of Nepal. Look how much we have sunk down the drain since the royal massacre...It is very scary for me to think of what happened that night. Regardless of what the truth is , its just very disturbing. However, I do have doubts of the Probe Comission's results. For a murder scale of that degree, they should still be investigation certain detials. Ke garni, its sad. And I hope thier souls rest in peace. lets hope the truth comes out, if it hasnt already!
