Our dear Dhirendra dai was intially known as kaju dai and later became popular as kaddai. Sabbaiko kaddai, bacchha dekhi budha samma....Sometimes, he used to call himself kaddai. "Sililili tyaak..dekhies ta kaddai lay pasako", it was his favorate dailouge whenever there are lots of kids within the vicinity of carem board inside Dhaney ko pasal. Dhaney ko pasal was the junction where he used to start his bet on carem. "Aaija bawo..chyaa bazzi khelni.. talai 27 diyera khelchu", that was his alluring statement to bet. Inspite of giving 27, he rarely lost..another grace of his sililili tyaak.

Dhaney was also happy inviting him because his morning chya business was in the verge becuase of kaddai. I always used to see people around that dhaney ko pasal. No matter what, kaddai was always successful making a deal with his opponent to break first. Except for that raato queen, none of the goties seemed to be in the proper place.
Ke gaurney! yuastai thiyo kaddai ko unique deal. It was indeed cheerful to see kaddai breaking the pipalpatey shape of the goties. "Dekheis ta bao! ek choti ma chaar chaar seto sililili tyaak", this is always used to be the first dailok after he breaks. Kaddai lay phoddai garda kasai lay na kasailay Gainda churote salkaidinu paurney. As the time passed, Kaddai won several bazzies and dhaney made a lot. Thanks to carem bazzie, Dhaney inagurated his chyaang service which was run in the evening.

After the dusk, Dhaney would provide Maieda ko pitho rather than borik powder. Initially, people complained but nobody cared later. Even with that maida ko pitho, kaddai never missed a single shot. "6 bajna layo, aba Dhaney lay roti pakawucha hya", kaddai used to express his hidden anger sporadically over Maieda ko pitho. Dhaney nasunya jasto garthyo. "Koise salka ta...", koise was kaddai's own attribute to gaida churote. As Kaddai suggested, Carem khelda jay bhaye ni "eis maientu koise" huni. We had to grasp the meaning of "eis maientu koise" depending upon where it was used. When he missed the shot, eis maientu koise referred something terrible. Otherwise, it was opposite. Later, Eis maientu koise became amazingly popular in our tole. Koi cycle bata ladyo, eis mantu koise. Kasaailey naya bike kinyo, eis maientu koise. Hunda hoonda boodha haru ni naapi awunda dui feet jagga michna paye eis maientu koise bhayo bhanna thaley.

Yuastai thiyo Eis maientu koise ko chakachak.

In addition to carem bazzi, Kaddai had another reason to be in the spot. "Bawu! tya uzyalo chhaad ta, goti dekhina mailey", he used to peep into doodh bechney pasal in the name of bright light. The pasal was just in opposite side from Dhaney ko pasal. That Doodh bechnay pasal had a special meaning to Kaddai. Nanichori, the daughter of our Anchaladhish was the regular customer especially during doodh lyawuni tyam. So, whenever kaddai heard a dugdhabikash truck ko cyron, somebody had to understand that he needed some brightlight. Being a teenager, it took me almost a year to understand the whole scenario. Anchaladhish was one of the renowned twatissh of our tole. Contrary to his primary school degree, he liked to discuss on special topics like how the cabinet should run the country. That was the sole reason that he was awarded with that big title "Anchaladhish", hamro tole ko ewutai matra anchaladhish. With that fame, he had been managing to keep his two dauhgters Shakuntala and Nanichori away from outsiders. However, Kaddai was somewhat successful to sneak in through some kind of loopholes. After sometimes, I used to see kaddai and Nanichori somewhere around Guheswori/Pashupati. Those were haydays in Kaddai's life. Soon, he had Nanichori along with koise, chyaang, carem fame and anchaladhish sasura. But crack soon became another pressing part of kaddai's life. "Nanichori maiti aa chey aja ni, tyo kajey lai ta!!",

Anchaldhish yuassai gari raati raati bawulauwnthyo jaand khayera. I guessed it was his only option to mollify his growing disgruntle towards his smyakist jwain. Years passed, Dhaney ko pasal was gradually taken over by his brother in the name of Ansabanda. So, we missed to spot kaddai. Some had even forgot kaddai by then. I often wondered about kaddai whenever I used to see carem junction in naagpokhari, ratopool. One day, kiraney lay dhyappa hanyo naagpokhari ma..tyai karem heri ra bela, "Eis maientu koise bho ni".
"Ke?", I asked.
"Kaddai ta hijo rati saaph bhayecha ni over dose lay".
"Eis maientu koise", mero ni yuastai thyo reply.
