Why don't you try typing "chronic obstructive pulmonary disease" in a search engine? In any event, if its "pulmonary" it has something to do with the lungs. I know the answer to your question, but I ain't answering. Do your own homework.

:( Bhedo. The question is related to this disease. What is the A-a gradient in Arterial blood gases? What does it mean? I got no time to look for it :( I know I am a procastinator but now it's too late. What does shotty anterior adenothpathy mean? and what does RRR with occasional premature cardiac beat & mild precordial heave mean? Plz. someone explain. Will appreciate it. Thanks.

How can you not know the answer to those questions?? Don't you have a textbook? Once again, those are simple things. Just try typing those in a search engine like Yahoo. Do your homework yourself, else you're cheating.

DEAR SLOTHFUL, LOTUS-EATER, LAZY BUM GIRL INT, HERE'S A BRIEF DEFINITION OF COPD FOR YA. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, is characterized by abnormalities in the lungs that make it difficult to exhale normally. Generally, two distinct diseases are involved: emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Emphysema and chronic bronchitis cause excessive inflammatory processes that eventually lead to abnormalities in lung structure that permanently obstruct airflow (hence the term "chronic obstructive"). Symptoms include shortness of breath (dyspnea), wheezing, chronic cough, barrel chest, and pursed-lip breathing (see Symptoms). Asthma is usually reversible, but some asthmatics have permanently narrowed airways and suffer COPD. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 75% of deaths from COPD that occur in developed countries are directly related to smoking tobacco. Risk Factors Tobacco use is the number one risk factor. Heavy smokers are at greatest risk. Cigarette smokers are at greater risk than cigar and pipe smokers. All smokers are at greater risk than lifelong nonsmokers. Having alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency, also called familial emphysema, is another risk factor. People with familial emphysema have a hereditary deficiency of alpha-1-protease inhibitor. When there is a deficiency of AAT, the activity of elastase—an enzyme that breaks down elastin—is not inhibited and elastin degradation occurs unchecked. Individuals with a severe genetic deficiency of AAT usually have symptoms by the time they reach early middle age. It is critical that people with this deficiency never smoke. Approximately 1% to 3% of all cases of emphysema are due to AAT deficiency. Back to Top

I'm sorry girl, I am as hard-pressed as you.No time to search for your answers.Anyway you should be doing your own work, you should not be seeking help from others. I want to warn you that if someone will tell your Prof. about your badmashi, you might get expelled from your Univ.

Garibjanata is a true, true idiot. Read my sentence properly before opening your big mouth. I said, "Just try typing those in a search engine like Yahoo", "like" being the keyword here. And it wouldn't matter what search engine she wishes to use. The things she's searching for are highschool level.
