King Birendra, queen killed in palace shootout: report

KATHMANDU, June 2 (Kyodo) - (EDS: STORY TO BE LED)
Nepalese King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya, Crown Prince Dipendra and Princess Shruti were killed in a shoot-out at the Nepalese palace Friday evening, according to unconfirmed reports in Kathmandu.
The reports said they were among eight people who died in the shoot-out during an informal get-together of the royal family.
The shooting was apparently triggered by a debate on the crown prince's wedding.
