This is a open letter for all GBNC council members.

I have couple of issues that I would like to address here:

Why is there a communication gap between GBNC Council and GBNC website? In my opinion, anything that GBNC does or is going to do should be posted in the website as well. But, I have seen it again and again that, NO information is provided by the council to put on the web. If any information is provided, it's couple of days before the event.

Couple of weeks back, there was some comments regarding hearing about the Nepalese movie premier at some indian grocery store. I think it would have made perfect sense to publish that info in the web as soon as the decision to show the movie was made. There were fliers in indian grocery stores, before the information was emailed to the webmaster. And this was done one or two days before the event.

On another note, there was a newsletter published by GBNC about a month back. No information was provided to the webmaster. Personally, I think it would have made sense if the newsletter was published ONLINE at the same time it was distributed on paper.

A current issue at hand is the new newsletter recently published. The able secretary Sameer Tiwari, had asked me to publish the newsletter online and I had asked for the electronic files, the reply to which he cc'd the responsible parties, but no acknowledgement of the email still...

I believe in doing something well or not doing it at all. In my quest for making this site better, I need constant communication from the council. I have spent 150 plus hours on this site as well as managing all technical issues with the server. I need to know that GBNC Website is part of the GBNC Council and that GBNC Council will actively provide me with information, as opposed to hearing comments from others that this site is 'monopolized' by the webmaster as I recently heard from someone. With the least amount of information that is provided by the Council, I am in fact happy to be able to 'monopolize' this site so that visitors can themselves contribute to the dynamism of this site.

Best wishes to all.

I wish someone with authority had responded to San's seemingly sincere and heartfelt query.

I think everyone would agree that it's very, very vital for ALL community members to know what their PUBLICLY-elected officials are doing or what activities/events are taking place in their communities. GBNC, after all, remains a PUBLIC entity -- not a clubhouse
for any one person and his or her two
best friends!!

Previously, when there were no regular newsletters, GBNC Council members
themselves would divide up the "call-garnay" responsibilities and start calling/informing
their friends of new/upcoming GBNC
activities.

Later, when there were regular newsletters,
those, then, became the preferred vehicle to
spread relevant news.

Now, as the size of the Boston Nepali community balloons up to to the extent whereby no one can be reasonably expected to keep an accurate track of who's who, and as the habit of Web browsing becomes popular, there's no reason why GBNC Council members should hesitate to use the Web and San's expertise to INSTANTLY communicate relevant news to all.

San has worked very hard on this Web site.
He deserves everyone's thanks.

As a community that appreciates hard work, let's not give a chance to any hardworking and dediated member to complain/ or voice
PREVENTABLE concerns for any reason.

After all, anyone else can make this or similar Web sites, but without a few (and it always takes a few!) dedicated, committed, interested PEOPLE and PEOPLE alone behind this whole thing, what use would any Web site be?
