Hey guys, I just read this in kantipuronline and was surprised to see how concerned this sixth student is. He even took the step to send a letter to the editor. Mount Everest and Buddha:-> INDIA? WTH? Is there anyway we could file a complain against this or is this the truth? I myself am confused now about their origin so what can we expect from the whole world? We all at Sajha talk about all the issues but wouldn't it be so awesome if we do something about it too. We could perhaps spare a few minutes asking the authors for the source of their book. What is their reference, what is their research based on? They need to change what they have written and have an authentic proof for their arguments or else don't bother to write at all. I don't understand why everyone is upto downsizing Nepal! Well, I am definitely writing to them now. Most of them are from University of Wisconsin, Madison. If any of you guys are interested and wants to write to them, then lemme know.Thank you for reading. -MB *********************************************************************** Mt Everest and Buddha I am a sixth grade student. Once we were studying a chapter on India’s geography in social studies. It mentioned that "Mt Everest is in India". I felt so insulted. No one can just say that Mt Everest is in India without proving it. Not even a little land part of India touches Mt Everest, so how can it be in India? The chapter also states that Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born in India. Everybody knows that the Lord Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal, not in India. That’s not acceptable so the Nepalese government must have to do something to correct such gross factual errors. The book’s name is: World Adventures in Time and Place, and its authors are: Dr James A Banks, Dr Gloria Ladson-Billings, Dr Mary A McFarland, Dr Barry K Beyer et al. Sonal Ranjit New York, USA http://kantipuronline.com/online/kpost_html/kp_letter2edit.htm#Mt%20Everest%20and%20Buddha

Thanks Matribhumi for making that note. I really think that the Sajhaities have to get united and try to resolve such issues. Each and everyone of us could contribute towards our country and not just talk, talk and talk like our netas do. Anyways, give me the emails of the individuals and I will send a note to them too. BTW, did you already write to them and if yes, then what was their response? Please share with us, Thanks! I would also like to urge all the Sajhaities to encourage people like Matribhumi who wants to make a difference. Peace! -LoGiN
