Sudip and I were heading Bhatbhateni to give an important message with an envelope full of cash to one of his uncles-father's cousin. There was enough coldness in the air. Right in front of Astanaran's house, we saw a lady walking towards bhuteswor. She looked familiar. I was still thinking ka dekheko yo didi lai ka dekheko Sudip spoke, "didi ka gayera aaunu bha yati raati? I was surprised to note that Sudip recognized her so quickly even the area was so poorly lit. Didi looked pretty confused at first and gave us a quick but sucpicious look then cautiously replied. "tyahi uta samma gaki thiye aauda aaudai dhila bho". It was evident to me that she did not recognize us. I also didn't understand why sudip asked with so much authoratitive tone, "didi ka gayera aaunu bhani yati raati?" Why he thought that didi should answer her. Didi and I were walking in opposite direction. Didi was trying to walk as fast as she could. I was still thinking who is this didi? maile kaha chai ta dekhya ho...pahila didi lai puryayera aam ani bhatbhateni jamla hunna? sudip asked me. Maile hunchha ma tauko hallai diye. Then we started to escort didi without her asking for escort. Haina pardaina ma gai halchhu ni...didi was not ready for our service. didi le chinnu bhena jasto chha hamilai....yati raati yo bato bata eklai hinna hunna didi..hami puryai di halchham ni....kina aattinu bha...sachhi nai chinnu bhe na ki ke ho? Sudip spoke. Didi briefly glanced at us then said with a bit uncertainity...chine chine chinna ta...taipani kina dukha dinu bhanera...ma gai halchhuni.....Sudip interrupted "haina didi hudaina eklai janalai..." now we were taking that oralo bhuteswor ko uttar pattiko and were walking towards dhunge dharo. It was a quite cold night and the silence of the night was occasionally being challanged by some jadyaharu... dhobi khola nera samma pugda pani ma chachi mauka milaudai didi ko anuhar nihardai thiye....pakka sanga didi lai chinna. didi was not talking much but sudip was didi ka didi laudai. sangai hinirako ko didi yo bhanera sodhna pani namilne.....but right before crossing dhobi khola, I remembered who this didi was. She was gyanu didi, sunitako be ma chineko....she was no relative of ours but was related to sunita's husband. And sunita was related to us. Now, I was also feeling comfortable walking with her. Once we passed dhobikhola, tyo bhatkeko pulma basira dui char wata shiva bhakta chhaya dekhiye...dar dar lagyo...one of them sang raat ko nirabta lai chiradai....timro ghar chachari tyai tala haina ra...timlai hamle chahchari chineko chhaina ra....luckily those shiva bhaktas were passive and stayed back. dekhnu bho didi...ahile eklai aako bhe...sudip spoke. didi smiled. we were walking chabel jane ukalo...now gyanu didi was also speaking with more comfort with us. Chabel bazar ko tala tala bata uttar tira lage si euta gharko compound ma she entered. our mission was complete. it was already 9:30 PM, so we said la ta didi...but she said...aammai ka hunchha bhitra aaunu parchha...she really insisted. we went in. she took us to the living room and said, chya nakhwai ta jana dinna.." she went to the kitchen and came back with a 7\8 barsako bachcho...mamaharulai namaskar gar she ordered him. he did namaskar with some reservations. in that bright living room light, i clearly saw her face. hatar hatar chya khayera we came out of the house. she came all the way to the compound gate to see us off. bida bhera hine pachhi, I asked sudip, "ko didi yo?" Sudip paused a bit and said, "malai ke tha.." What? I said. Khai ko ko.....gyanu didi jasto lagera........feri bhitra battima ta haina re chhha..... la chhito chhito hin..bhatbhateni janu chha...sudip spoke... |

Deepjyu, On such small incident, your beautiful narration of the occurence of an event of daily life that anybody could have encountered, and you spelled it in dramatic way, often amazes me. Thanks for sharing the plot. Krishna! |

Deep, I've been reading few of your works lately and have to say you are the best narrator in Sajha, atleast. I am also seeing subtle development in your writing skills which is not faded by abrupt Nepali-to-English-to-Nepali transitions. The transition actually suits the local tune you want to give to your narratives. Do keep typing. |

Poonte, The story is certainly a true one. Jiradai, I wrote what happened that evening-night. Nabhako chya lyaune taruni maile kata bata lyaunu?....jhukkiyerai bhe ni sayad punyako kam gariyo kyara....did a random act of kindness! heram...aba arko katha ma ta taruni aamlan ni ta....kaso? |
