Our regent gives us this accident theory. The accident that left
a few but all dead. Come on prince, I don't buy this theory.

An accident can't kill the king and the queen and eleven other
people "THAT WAY".

************* -------------- ************ ---------------------

Now, we are not obliged to call Prince Gyanendra our king or
whatever we say. Because, frankly, I may be ready to accept him
to some extent, but not Paras as crown prince. We are not "raiti".
One of the greatest spirit of the constitution we got in 2047 is
that we , Nepalese people, are now soverign. The greatest wish
of Birendra was to see us relishing our right to choose our
ruler.

I believe the kingship is primogeniture and male-based
inheritance. It is time we realise that Shaha dynasty is
respectfully placed in history now. It is time I can tell my
future daughter, "Look, kid. Work hard, and if you do so, you
can become the president of Nepal."

**************** ------------- ************* ---------------------

I resent the attitude of our government again. This
semi-sensorship on press yesterday was untenable. Why should
Nepali in Nepal wait hours while all the world already knew about
this?

A few doomsayers say that Nepal is nothing without king. They are
crazy. We love the late king, it is true. But there are alot of
thing in question now , as the incidence already took place. The
first is: Nepalese people need explanation of what happened to
the royals. Who is that cold-blooded creature who killed the
king, the queen, and among other, the young prince and princess?

We can't afford to cry and be in shocked now, as a few criminals
may take grip of the nation and democracy. It is time we become
our rulers, and we become alert more than ever.

********* ------------ ************** --------------

Even the educated Nepalese say army doesn't obey the popular govt.
They are just another doomsayers.

Royal Nepalese Army is best remembered in Nepal for its effort to
help citizens. I remember seeing army people in my nearby village
coming to rescue the flooded village of Tharus. They came to
save Nepalese. They fought with the support of whole Nepalese
people 200 Yrs ago. Army is just another proud, intact and
disciplined force of Nepal.

Our policy has consistently been this: that civilians will craft
the policy for army. The govt agreed to UN demand, and the army
went to peacekeeping.I have a few friends in army, in Captain and
Lieutenant level. All are as democratic in their spirit as I am.
I knew a Major, who was as democratic as I was. I see army as
another reverred Nepalese institute which survives with the
survival of Nepal. The army can prosper only with the prosperous
and democratic Nepal. There is no conflict of interest between
a republic, democratic Nepal and a strong Nepalese Army.

Before you praise the Nepali army too highly, let me point out that they were to protect the king. Where were they during the shooting. Let us wait to see which path the army will take before we say we love them so much. Nepal is ripe for a miltary takeover. Is that what we want? Too much honor is given to people in power in Nepal. Making heros of villains. These are just men but we make them out to be gods. Where do we go when our heros and gods die? We must have more self reliance in favor or giving our futures over to someone else to manage.

Dear Bill:

I don't want to 'give' the army authority. I want them to be
under 'civilian rule'. It will be our policy that the civilians
craft the rule for mobilizing army.

As for making heros out of villains, I agree with you.
