Nepali population is not comfortable facing the sudden inevitability of Paras as the new crown prince, much less a future king.
However, declaring Nepal a republic is no easy task. It would entail changing the constitution, and several national institutions. This needs time and pace to go smoothly.
Perhaps Nepal should hold a referendum on whether to declare Nepal a republic, thereby giving every citizen a say in the future of the nation. Perhaps this would put an end to the Maoists insurgency, the extreme monarchists and everyone in between and begin rebuilding a new Nepal.
