Hi Biswo-ji,

For non-fiction, i.e. intelligent essays and thoughtful book-reviews, related to Nepal and the world, be sure to visit the home page of The Kathmandu Post Review of Books.

After I started the Review in 1996 in Kathmandu, it's still going strong as of today, with active new co-ordinators, new writers and so on.

You are welcome to submit reviews and essays
for publication.

Hi Ashuji:

I enjoyed the site. Thanks for forwarding
that site to me.

Just wondering if one of the members there
,Anil Bhattarai, is my friend/bro.Is he the same
person who is now in Jawaharlal Nehru
University? In fact,we hail from the same
place(Tandi,Chitwan),and we attended the same
highschool(Nepal Mavi,Tandi).This is a bit
personal, but I am asking out of curiosity.

He was working for a newspaper in Delhi
last year, and I had his email address ,but
I lost his email address then.So
communication was snapped.

Biswo-ji,

What a small world we live in! The degree of separation between you and me is one!

Chitawan's Anil Bhattarai and his wife Sujata Thapa are very good friends of mine.

In fact, until his departure for JNU (Delhi) in early this August, Anil and I had been working together, night and day, on the Kamaiya issue at Martin Chautari (Thapa-thali) in Kathmandu.

He and I were in Dhangadi together not too long ago, traveling through deep Tharu villages in Kailali and Kanchanpur with our friend Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary.

I remain very impressed with Anil's brilliance. He can think rigorously thru many issues, and, thru many guff-guff over chiya, he has helped sharpen my thinking on the Kamaiya issue.

On another note, when I was in Boston,
I had also met with Anil's mama (who is a professor at an American college) Pramod
Parjuli a few times when PP was at Harvard
to attend conferences.

It's great to know that you too know Anil
well.

A small world indeed!!
