Raju Jyu, I just watched “Adaptation” yesterday. I’ve watched plenty of movies Last year; so I can say “Adaptation” is one of the best movies so far. Although the movie is based upon “The Orchid Thief”, the screenplay is so good; I won’t be surprised if the movie gets the Oscars for best ORIGINAL screenplay, and of course best director Spike Jonez and best actor Nicholas Cage. I’m not a good writer to express my feelings about that movie eloquently, but “Adaptation” teaches a valuable lesson. In my own words, the movie states, “Do the things that make you feel great, that you think is right. If you think what other people are going to feel about it, or how other people thinks about it, you will never be happy”. It is something like that. You think movies are normal part of life, but the important thing is that, It is the part of life, whether it is normal or not. People are addicted to the one thing or the other. Some are addicted to books, some are addicted to politics, chasing skirts, girls, booze, drugs, cigarettes, abuse, murder – the list is endless. What is wrong with being “movieholic”, if that is one of those things that bring happiness in their life. After all, according to the lesson I revived from “Adaptation”, ones happiness is more important for him/her than what other’s feel about it. May be those people, who feel like Salman Khan after watching his movies; find their bliss that way. You suggested the moviegoers to come close and do something better to spice up their life and their family’s life. Please suggest those movie-holics, what is the better thing to do to spice up their life, rather than doing something that makes them happy the most? If one is happy, his/her family is happy. Having said that, I am addicted to sajha.com. I visit this site every day. I try to read all the postings. It makes me feel happy, it makes me feel sad. It’s not that I am some kind of a loner. It’s just fun to have fun with the people. If I go tell my friends or family, who are unaware of the feeling I get from visiting it, they might think I am mad. It’s all about perspective – I say Elizabeth Hurly is one of the most beautiful ladies alive, and some say she is old and she has accent and she is not as beautiful as Britney Spears. PREM

PP jyu, I don't think anyone would've/could've said it better than the way you did. I agree with your observations. Addiction is a major and an inevitable aspect of human life. On a philosophical level, we could say that it's because we are "addicted" to life that we're living it! What really matters, however, is whether and how you handle your addiction. Watching the Discovery Channel is certainly informative and educational. However, addicts of this channel are plentiful as well and I've encountered many whose addiction to this channel is such that they are unable to converse about and relate to what the non-discovery channel fans take interest in. Hindi movies have become an inextricable part of most of our lives as Nepalis. And we must consider that the percentage of the literacy rate of Nepal is in its 20s. The remaining people need a form of entertainment and Hindi movies provide the most "masaladaar" kind in a language that is comprehended by many. In addition, talking about the next Salman release or the latest gossip about the men in Manisha's life is part and parcel of Nepali social life--particularly with the young generation. One can also hear of late about Cameron Diaz;s wardrobe in Gangs of New York or the screenplay of Adaptation as PP jyu mentioned above, as increasingly integrating into the Nepali lifestyle. I once heard somewhere that everyone has his own reality and his own illusions. Hence the difficulty in separting the one from the other. For the addicts of the Discovery Channel and the movieholics of hindi movies, the dilemma is the same. Each fascination stands rectified in its own right and neither can be relegated into an inferior position. In peace.

Thanks pp jyu n sim gal well, I am not surprised, I am not going to say that addiction is the normal part of life. I cannot consider myself that reading books is addiction. It can be the way how life goes for the search for something, or it can be how the civilization starts from one way to another. You know what whether you chase skirt gals or the skirts you can say that fooldiction instead of addiction.Life passes through everystage of time. It's you whether you gonna make the most of it or not. I could say elizabeth hurley was the best, believe me there is something wrong after she was pregnant.Ooooops! forget it ! well simple gal don't be in that chaos to separate illusion and the reality. I guess reality always come first and then you go for the illusions, believe me illusion sometimes betray you .
